If there was some kind of restart button for today, Kelly Osbourne would have hit it by now — and probably with a sledgehammer. As previously reported by Inquisitr , Osbourne made a jaw-dropping comment about Latinos during the “Hot Topics” segment of Tuesday’s episode of The View . Her gaffe came in the form of an awkwardly worded critique of Trump’s inflammatory remarks about Mexicans.
“If you kick every Latino out of this country, then who is going to be cleaning your toilet, Donald Trump?”
Raising the ire of her co-host Rosie Perez (and eliciting gasps from the audience), Kelly attempted to walk her poorly chosen words back a bit and made it through the segment with the help of the other women on The View . She also took to Twitter later in the day to issue an apology . For her part, Rosie Perez also publicly expressed support for her co-host.
My apologies @KellyOsbourne , I took your point wrong- #Trump #Latinos . My bad. You’re heart is so pure & righteous. I adore you. @TheView

Despite Rosie’s goodwill gesture and Osbourne’s attempt at damage control, the backlash against Kelly rages on. Sentiment against the 30-year-old singer and talk show hostess has proven particularly vitriolic via Twitter, where some folks who are adept in Twitterspeak have noted that she is in the midst of a “dragging” on the social media site.
One common theme that has arisen over the course of the day is the irony of Kelly’s current plight given her previous treatment of former Fashion Police co-star Giuliana Rancic over Rancic’s off-hand comment about Zendaya Coleman. As reported by Us Magazine , Osbourne condemned Rancic as a racist when Giuliana suggested that Coleman “smells like patchouli oil, or maybe weed.” For those who sided with Rancic in that row, today’s flap surrounding Kelly Osbourne was a sort of poetic justice.

Others took jabs at Osbourne’s distinctive lavender coif, likening her to Disney villainess Ursula.
Such a shame Kelly Osbourne is racist she was one of my favorite Disney characters when I was a kid ? pic.twitter.com/AFQ107j2e4 — Cody (@codyspearz) August 4, 2015
Viral videos, repurposed photos, and improvised props also made appearances in the ensuing Twitter frenzy.

Fox News notes that the Osbourne family has some history with Donald Trump, posting a video from an old episode of Fox and Friends in which she presented the businessman-turned-politician with a sweater. The show’s hosts also noted that Kelly’s mother, Sharon, was once a participant on Trump’s show The Celebrity Apprentice .
At the moment, it’s unclear if the present hullabaloo will have any negative impact on Kelly’s role on The View or upon her career as a whole. Although she clearly has some disdain for The Donald these days, it’s a safe bet that Kelly Osbourne would love to borrow a secret or two from his playbook, as the GOP frontrunner has shown himself to be adept at turning controversy into success — for the moment, anyway.
