Ellie Goulding Burns Intrusive Paparazzi Tree Dwellers
Ellie Goulding and her partner, Dougie Poynter, are currently taking a vacation on the Spanish holiday island of Ibiza. Ellie and Dougie are staying in a privately rented villa, presumably to spend a little quality time together out of the public eye. Sadly for Goulding and Poynter, privacy is something that is increasingly hard to come by. Ellie is hot news, rarely out of the public eye, and it seems that the tabloid press are more than happy to print stories and pictures of the “Love Me Like You Do” singer.
Earlier this year, several U.K. tabloids made a story out of Ellie sunbathing in a bikini beside a Los Angeles hotel swimming pool. On Monday, U.K. tabloid the Daily Express published a series of snaps of Ellie at her holiday villa with a sensationalized headline that read “Ellie Goulding flaunts her toned figure in bikini.” The Express claimed that Ellie “proudly flaunted her gym-honed physique as she modeled not just one, but two bikinis while relaxing poolside” with Dougie and a group of friends.
According to MTV, Ellie took to Twitter to burn paparazzi photographers who apparently hid in trees surrounding Goulding’s rented villa in order to grab the intrusive photographs. Goulding’s Twitter post echoed the Express headline, so Ellie appears to be aiming her shot firmly in their direction.

The Sydney Herald reports that Goulding and Poynter are well used to life in the public eye but clearly Ellie is not happy that her privacy has been invaded in this way. The irony is that Goulding is very generous with the press. She frequently poses for photographs willingly and regularly shares intimate images of herself and Dougie on her Instagram account. On the same day as the tabloids printed the intrusive pictures, Ellie shared an image of herself and Dougie enjoying a relaxed dinner whilst sitting on the floor.

Even after the media intrusion, Ellie shared Instagram photographs of herself enjoying a cooling drink. Ellie has even shared shots of herself wearing the same bikini that she was wearing in the paparazzi photographs.

Ellie’s shot at the Paparazzi and the tabloid news media who use their photographs won the approval of Goulding’s music industry BFF, Taylor Swift. Ellie’s classic put-down tweet was Favorited by Swift, who has also been plagued by paparazzi photographers. Earlier this year, Swift published bikini shots of herself online in an attempt to thwart paps who had photographed her.
Obviously, there will be a trade in paparazzi photographs for as long as tabloids buy the pictures. Maybe Ellie and Taylor will help to lessen the impact of this trade by self-publishing their own pictures.
