Johnny Depp To Be Replaced In Future ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean’ Films Due To Recent Issues? [Rumors]
Captain Jack Sparrow, as the world knows him, may be making his final appearance in the latest film in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Johnny Depp is rumored to be on thin ice with the crew and cast members involved in the 5th installment, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
Venture Capital Post outlines the basis of the latest adventure flick Depp is currently filming for.
” ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’ is the fifth installment in the film franchise and is scheduled for release on July 7, 2017. It stars Depp along with Javier Bardem as the antagonistic Captain Salazar, Orlando Bloom as Will Turner, Geoffrey Rush as Captain Hector Barbossa, well as newcomers Brenton Thwaites as Henry and Kaya Scodelario as Carina.”
The Australian Network recently drew attention to the fact that the film, which Depp is on set for in Australia, was originally slated to hit theaters in the summer of 2015. However, due to Depp’s schedule and apparent personal issues, the 52-year-old has caused a delay meaning that fans will not see the film on the big screen until 2017 — a shame, considering the Disney franchise has such a loyal and large following who are eager to see what comes next in the adventure of the nutty pirate, Sparrow.
The publication relays that the film’s producers are rumored to be considering a new avenue for the films which follow the one currently in the works, and that the future films will not involve Johnny Depp.
“Speculations have risen regarding the famous Captain Jack Sparrow’s replacements. Several actors have been tagged namely Jim Carrey, Robert Downey Jr., and Dan Stevens although this remains to be confirmed.”
It’s surprising to think that the production moguls, Bruckheimer–Disney, could even think about replacing Depp in any capacity within these films, seeing as it is the manner in which he brings the quirky, clever, and hilarious pirate to life that has made the franchise such a success. Replacement of Mr. Depp would only result in a box office flat line for the beloved adventure franchise.
The Australian Network focuses on rumored personal drama that the star is experiencing, mainly with his wife, Amber Heard, that is causing tensions to be high on set and leading to a distant and unfocused Depp. Claims about the dog smuggling circumstance that brought charges against Heard, as well as rumors of a pending split between the couple, are just a couple of scenarios being offered to explain Johnny’s supposed negative behavior.
However, whether or not the claims and reports in regards to Depp and Heard are factual remains to be brought to light. Let’s hope that the claims are, in fact, untrue to ensure that beloved Jack Sparrow remains just as he is.
