Tiger Woods Will Skip The Olympics, But Lindsey Vonn Stays Hopeful
With the Olympic games coming up in 2016 and 2018, both Tiger Woods and Lindsey Vonn should be forward to the big contest, but Woods isn’t hopeful that a gold medal is in his future.
As reported in the Inquisitr, Tiger Woods is plugging away at a long list of summer tournaments, trying to get back to his former glory, while Lindsey Vonn is training at a summer snow camp in New Zealand, sending tweets to her fans from the slopes. Tiger Woods has not been at the top of the PGA in several years, while Lindsey Vonn missed the 2014 Winter Olympics due to a knee injury.

Experts are calling Tiger Woods “delusional” for not accepting the poor state of his game. ESPN sports analyst Paul Azinger believes that Woods does not really understand how far out of contention he is, but Tiger seems to have no illusions about making the Olympic team for Rio in 2016.
“For me, I don’t have to worry about the Olympics right now. So, it’s not really a concern of mine right now,” Woods said after posting a 3-under 68 in Thursday’s first round of the Quicken Loans National. “Some of the top players, that is probably a schedule concern. As of right now that’s not the case for me.”
Lindsey Vonn, however, is not giving up her Olympic dream, as she is working full time toward making the downhill ski team for the 2018 winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. She is in the gym full time, and is working hard at a snow camp in New Zealand.
“I’m just working out in the gym now and I’ll go to my first on-snow camp in New Zealand at the end of the month,” she said. Then she will visit Chile in September for some more cold-weather training before the World Cup season begins.
“I’m working hard and the training is going well,” she said. “My knee is really good and it’s nice to actually have a summer without being in rehab.”
Though Tiger Woods and Lindsey Vonn seem to have different aspirations for the Olympics, both are still trying to make their mark on their sports, but are making plans for life after competition. Tiger Woods is opening a gourmet restaurant in his hometown of Jupiter, Florida, this month, and Lindsey Vonn has her eye on a line of athletic wear with Under Armor.
