Ellen Pompeo ‘Excited’ To Replace Patrick Dempsey on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’
More than anyone, you would think Ellen Pompeo, aka, Meredith Grey, the title character on Grey’s Anatomy, would miss Patrick Dempsey, McDreamy or Dr. Derek Shepherd. But Ellen Pompeo seems pretty happy to be surrounded by hot guys on Grey’s Anatomy.
And it’s good that Ellen Pompeo is happy, Shonda Rhimes certainly wants her to be happy on the set of Grey’s Anatomy, because according to the Inquisitr, Ellen Pompeo’s contract expires this year. So the choice for Rhimes is either to convince Pompeo to stay, or find a creative plot line to explain her departure.

As of this article, Ellen Pompeo has not committed to anything beyond this year on Grey’s Anatomy, so Shonda Rhimes is hinting that she might have to write for the dramatic departure of the title character.
“Now, Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and the entire ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ family are about to enter uncharted territory as we head into this new chapter of her life. The possibilities for what may come are endless. As Ellis Grey (Kate Burton) would say: The carousel never stops turning,” Rhimes said, adding her gratitude to the man who brought the character of Derek Shepherd to life.”
So for now, it is reported that Ellen Pompeo is happy to be surrounded by the new and old “hunky” cast. It has been confirmed that Martin Henderson has joined the cast as a surgeon and potential love interest for Meredith on Grey’s Anatomy. Ellen Pompeo tweeted her enthusiasm about Shonda Rhimes’ taste in actors. “@shondarhimes knows how to pick them… My brothers..I mean.” By brothers, she meant the “hunky” Kevin McKidd, Justin Chambers, and Jesse Williams, plus now full cast members Jason George and Giacomo Gianniotti. At the very least, Season 12 will be full of serious eye candy for many viewers.
As reported in the Inquisitr, the first episode of the new season, “Sledgehammer” will debut in late September. Cast members Kevin McKidd, Caterina Scorsone and Camilla Luddington have been tweeting away, sharing everything from thoughts of upcoming episodes to pictures inside the operating room.
Caterina Scorsone (Dr. Amelia Shepherd) hints that Amelia and Meredith will make peace on season 12 of Grey’s Anatomy, and Camilla Luddington (Jo) is suggesting that her relationship with Alex is on the verge of a turn.

So with each tweet and post on social media, fans are getting a bit closer to the big picture for season 12 of Grey’s Anatomy.
