As Real Housewives of Orange County continues its drama-filled Season 10, there is one cast member who believes she is a completely different person than last season. In a recent interview with Perez Hilton , Heather Dubrow discussed her approach to this season, and even talked about Brooks Ayers faking cancer.
Following all the ups and downs of Season 9, Dubrow explained how she is more laid back this season and has learned to curb her controlling nature. “I’ve learned to let go. I’m definitely a control freak, but this year I’ve gotten much better with not needing to be in control of every situation,” said Dubrow. “I got to a place where I realized, you can’t do everything perfectly – you have to let go a little bit. I’m much more ‘me’ on the show this year because I feel much more relaxed.”
Part of what led to her change was what Dubrow described as a “hard year” in Season 9, which included the absence of her husband, Terry, for over half a year, and an overworked Dubrow.
“I was tired, I was angry, I didn’t see the ladies very much so I always felt like I was playing catch-up, and then anything I said was just used and twisted; it was just awful! I hated it – and I didn’t like who I became because of those feelings. I’m not blaming anyone else but the way it manifested in me wasn’t good.”
As Dubrow settles into the new season of the Real Housewives of Orange County as a changed person, part of the new drama includes Vicki Gunvalson’s boyfriend, Brooks Ayers , who claims that he is battling cancer. However, after some inconsistencies with their stories, several cast members have begun to doubt that Ayers has cancer at all.
“I think the whole thing will sort of be tried by the court of public opinion… I have always been a big supporter of Vicki and Brooks. I love Vicki, she’s a good friend.”
Dubrow went on to add that although she has her doubts about his cancer, she hopes that the rumors about Ayers aren’t true. “There are just so many inconsistencies and there were some lies told, and it’s really, really… disturbing. And then what do you say? You hope it’s not true, but then you don’t want to hope someone is ill,” she explained.
