WWE Rumors: The Real Reason WWE Wanted To Partner Sting With Roman Reigns And Dean Ambrose At ‘SummerSlam’
The icon known as Sting has been nowhere to be found for a couple of months now, but rumors have been going around that he would end up having a match at WWE SummerSlam. Now, it appears as if he may not be on the card at all even though rumors have had him attached to at least three different matches. One idea was partnering him up with Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns, but there was a very specific reason for that to happen.
As the rumors continue to roll around, it has just been revealed this week that Sting has been pulled from the proposed six-man tag match against The Wyatt Family. It appears as if WWE just doesn’t want him in that match anymore, but it may still continue on without him.
Now, if things were going to go through as rumored, Sting would have partnered up with Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns. This partnership wouldn’t have been to form some new type of The Shield or anything but to protect Reigns.
Remember the reaction that Roman Reigns got after winning the Royal Rumble? WWE didn’t want that happening again.
Knowing the type of raucous and rowdy crowd that can gather for wrestling events in New York City, WWE wanted Sting to take some of the heat off of Roman Reigns. Dean Ambrose would get a nice pop without any problem, but many were and are expecting Reigns to get booed out of the building at SummerSlam.
WrestleZone is reporting that Ambrose and Reigns vs. The Wyatt Family is still in place for a tag team match or six-man tag with added participants. It just seems as if WWE is going to leave it to Reigns to get himself a big-time babyface reaction from the New York crowd.
That leaves Sting’s status for the PPV up in the air, and that’s even with Wrestling Inc. saying he’s gotten himself into “ridiculously good shape.” With plans now having been changed, Sting is just confirmed to take part in the meet-and-greet during SummerSlam weekend.
There are three weeks left to go until the event, and a lot can change in that amount of time. Still, there is only one match confirmed at this time and it’s Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker.
One never knows what could happen though and with John Cena’s injury, who is to say that Sting won’t be placed into the WWE Title match with Seth Rollins? Either way, it looks like Sting is no longer going to be there to save Roman Reigns from having boos surround him at SummerSlam.
