Madeleine McCann Ruled Out For ID Of Australia’s Dead Suitcase Girl
With Madeleine McCann ruled out by investigators, Australia is still trying to figure out the identity of the dead girl found in a suitcase. But what leads do they have to go on now?
In a related report by the Inquisitr, Madeleine McCann’s disappearance has puzzled police across nations for years. Madeleine was just 3-years-old when she disappeared from her family’s holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in Portugal’s Algarve. Her family were dining at a nearby restaurant when the girl went missing.
Last year, Scotland Yard’s Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley said that if any evidence is located, chances of it being comprehensive were slim.
“A thorough serious crime investigation works systematically through all the credible possibilities, and often in an investigation you will have more than one credible possibility.”
But is it even possible Madeleine may have gone all the way from Portugal to Australia only to end up being stuffed into a suitcase? Detective Superintendent Des Bray said the South Australia Police had Madeleine McCann ruled out on the basis of their tests.
“I can confirm that Madeleine McCann has been totally excluded as a potential victim and UK police have been advised,” he said, according to The Independent. “There is absolutely no evidence at this point in time that the child is Madeleine McCann… to suggest something like that at this point in time would purely be speculating to get attention.”
Parents Gerry and Kate McCann hold out hope that Madeleine has been alive all these years, but both also realize that chances are slim after so many years passing.
“Obviously there is the chance her body could be found… That is a nightmare scenario for her family, but it would also bring closure. They understandably have to remain positive and assume Madeleine is alive.”
Police also said 43 other missing children were ruled out for the identity of Australia’s suitcase girl. Authorities estimated that the girl was between 2-and-a-half- and 4-years-old, Caucasian with fair hair, and could have died up to eight years ago.
A forum discussion on a websleuths.com forum has been attempting to piece together the evidence by analyzing the content of the suitcase to determine where she may have come from and the approximate time the clothing was sold.
Anyone who has any information that may assist the investigation into the missing girl’s identity is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800-333-000 or report online at via the Crime Stoppers website.[Image via National Center For Missing & Exploited Children]
