One of the most anticipated matches, and actually, the only confirmed match at WWE SummerSlam is going to be The Undertaker going head to head with Brock Lesnar . As The Deadman looks for revenge on Lesnar for breaking his perfect WrestleMania streak in New Orleans, there could be another superstar that interrupts the party, and that person is Kevin Owens.
Many fans and wrestling pundits have wondered how it would look for the indestructible Brock Lesnar to be defeated at any point in his career upon returning to WWE. It’s believed that one of the only wrestlers he could lose to and not have it reflect badly on him or destroy Brock’s beast status is The Undertaker.
Well, even then, some have wondered if that will even happen or if Lesnar will earn a second victory over the Deadman. If Lesnar does lose, it could be due to outside interference, and the interference could come from Kevin Owens.
Even though Owens had recently been demoted from a main event feud with John Cena and into a mid-card feud with Cesaro, WWE could just be biding its time for something bigger. Add that to the fact that Owens recently told talkSPORT’s Gorilla Position that he wants a piece of Lesnar.
“I think there’s only one answer for me right now, and it is Brock Lesnar. I think a lot of people want to see it…. I was there the night he made his debut on Raw for WWE. I was in the crowd, like the fifth row. I remember being blown away immediately by this guy, I was on board right away…. I used to do the F5 when I was on the indies because of how much I admire him so I’d love to be the one to put an end to him.”
Those sound like some serious fighting words, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see them brought to life before too long.
Owens is rumored not to have a match on the SummerSlam card, and as of yet, he still doesn’t. WWE is building toward a match with Cesaro, but their storyline still needs to be officially announced, confirmed and developed in the ring before Summerslam and time is running short. Without a buildup and a decent feud, Owens vs. Cesaro is just another match.
Either way, he’s going to be there because he’ll be wrestling at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn against Finn Balor on the night before. That will have him in the house and ready to do whatever he needs to do.
Sports World News believes it’s a possibility that Owens’ recent threat against Brock Lesnar could lead to his next feud. If he were to interfere and cost the “Beast Incarnate” the match against The Undertaker, it would start a fun new program and Lesnar would not have to take a clean loss to the Deadman.
Not that losing cleanly to The Undertaker would bring shame to Brock Lesnar’s name.
Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker is shaping up to be the biggest main event in WWE SummerSlam history, and if Kevin Owens ever wanted to make a bigger name for himself, that’s the time. Getting on the bad side of Lesnar is also a good way to sign your death certificate.
