Super model Linda Evangelista and her ex François-Henri Pinault will head to court tomorrow to discuss child support for their 5-year-old son Augustin.
Evangelista said that she needs $46,000 a month (that’s about $1500 a day) to care for her son. Evangelista said that she needs $46,000 to pay for security, a personal driver, round the clock nannies, and private school. When a judged asked Evangelista why she needed to have more than one nanny, Evangelista said:
“When I work, it can be a 16-hour day. On days when I do not work, I am working on my image. I have to hit the gym. I have beauty appointments. I have to work toward my next job and maintaining my image, just like an athlete.”
ABC reports that François-Henri Pinault and Evangelista dated for a few months at the end of 2005. When Evangelista found out that she was pregnant Pinault was already involved with Salma Hayek, his current wife.
Pinault, heir to an $11 billion estate and chairman of luxury company PPR (which owns Yves Saint Laurent, Gucci and Bottega Veneta), probably wouldn’t have any problem paying $50,000 a month in child support. Yahoo reports, however, that child support isn’t determined by parental income. Instead, it’s determined by how much it costs to care for a child.
ABC notes that billionaire businessman Ron Perelman only pays $12,000 a month in child support to his ex-wife Patricia Duff.
Whether or not Pinault is ordered to pay the full $46,000 or not, little Augustin should have no problem finding his next meal. His father is a billionaire and his mother, according to ABC, is worth $8 million. Finding a parental role model, however, could be an issue.
