WWE News: John Cena Pulled From All Weekend Events And ‘Raw’ Next Week — How Much Time Will He Miss?
John Cena is tentatively scheduled to face Seth Rollins in a WWE Title vs. United States Title match at SummerSlam, but that may now be in jeopardy. Cena’s broken nose suffered on Monday Night Raw not only required emergency surgery to help him breathe, but it’s now caused WWE to remove him from all upcoming events including next week’s Raw.
According to Wrestling Inc., Cena has been removed from all house shows for this weekend and is no longer being advertised for Monday Night Raw that will take place from San Jose, California.
UPDATE: As of Friday morning, John Cena has now also been pulled from WWE’s upcoming tour of Australia next week. Advertisements for him appearing on the Aug. 10 Monday Night Raw in Washington have been pulled as well and he is no longer on weekend live events for that time either.
WrestleZone has reported that the surgery on Cena’s broken nose was mainly intended to help him with some breathing issues. Reconstructive surgery has been mentioned and discussed, and medical professionals did suggest that he miss several weeks of in-ring time to heal.
Many have said that Cena is going to try and likely fight through the pain without missing any time, just as he finished the match on Monday after Seth Rollins broke his nose. Still, if it could end up causing permanent damage, WWE may force him to stay sidelined.
With just three weeks remaining until SummerSlam, it was expected that WWE would confirm the WWE Title match between Rollins and Cena this Monday. If Cena isn’t there and if it’s possible that he will miss a substantial amount of time, WWE may have to make some changes.
If Cena can’t go by SummerSlam, there is really no word on who Rollins could face for the WWE Title. Well, there has been one rumor going around.
Yes, there is a rumor that Sting could end up being placed into the WWE Title match, but that is purely speculation. Sting had been rumored for a tag match against the Wyatt Family or even to get involved in the Stephen Amell deal with Stardust.
This would be a huge and shocking twist from WWE, and it would also be kind of fitting. Not only would fans not see it coming, but it would be Sting’s first, and possibly last/only, shot at the WWE title ever.
Fans need to remember that Sting is 56-years-old and may not have many more years in the ring. Whether he’s in a match at SummerSlam or not, Sting will be in New York for a meet-and-greet session with WWE.
John Cena‘s removal from all WWE Live events this weekend and Monday Night Raw means that his broken nose is truly serious and the injury could keep him out indefinitely. Seth Rollins may have to end up finding a new opponent for SummerSlam, but Cena’s injury has that being a future feud to come.
