Director Jace Alexander Of TV’s ‘Law & Order’ Arrested On Child Pornography Charges
The director of the TV series, Law & Order, was arrested on Wednesday for child pornography charges. Jason “Jace” Alexander, 50, of Dobbs Ferry, New York, is accused of “possessing and file-sharing illegal and obscene performances of sexual conduct by children less than seventeen years of age.” Alexander is charged with one count of promoting a sexual performance by a child and one count of possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child.
Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore announced Alexander’s arrest. According to the DA’s Office, the TV director allegedly used an internet Torrent service to send a video in June of a 12- or 13-year-old girl stripping and masturbating and also had a video file of a 6- to 8-year-old girl performing a sexual act on herself.
An investigator from the Westchester County DA’s office downloaded child pornography files from an IP address in Westchester County on July 24, which launched an investigation. Investigators found the IP address was located at Alexander’s home. After a search warrant was obtained, a forensic examination of computers and hard drives revealed digital files of children less than 16-years-old in child pornography.
Alexander has a long history of working as a director on TV shows. He worked as director on 32 episodes of the original Law & Order from 1994-2005. He was the director of the pilot episodes for the TV shows Royal Pains, Burn Notice, and Warehouse 13. Jace was also the director of episodes of FX’s Rescue Me and MTV’s I Just Want My Pants Back, and was co-executive producer on NBC’s Blacklist.
Jace Alexander most recently directed the as yet to-be-aired crime drama TV movie Agatha for ABC Studios.
The arrested TV director was recently elected Second Vice President of the Directors Guild of America. The DGA told Deadline they have no comment on Alexander’s arrest, but it’s doubtful he will remain in the position with the charges he’s facing.
Alexander is married to actress Maddie Corman, who has made several appearances on Law & Order and Law & Order SVU. According to Corman’s IMDb page, the couple has been married since September 6, 1998, and they have three children.
Jace Alexander is represented by ICM Partners, who had no comment when he was arrested. The TV director faces up to seven years in state prison for the felony charges if convicted. Released on $10,000 bail, Alexander is expected in Dobbs Ferry court November 19.
