Jose Canseco Supporting Caitlyn Jenner By Dressing As A Woman: Is It Just A Reality Show Stunt?

Jose Canseco told TMZ he will be living as a woman for a week as a means of showing support to Caitlyn Jenner for her recent transition.

Canseco said he intends to go all out wearing make up and women’s clothes, stating that though he previously didn’t understand Jenner’s transition from man to woman, Jose wants to show Caitlyn that he is coming around to accepting her change.

“In the very beginning, I didn’t understand it, so I was kind of like, against it,” Canseco admitted.

Canseco went on to say that as he watched Jenner explain the transition and came to understand what Bruce was going through as he was changing to Caitlyn, Jose began to feel more empathetic toward Jenner’s plight.

“Once I watched it more and more, and realized what it really entailed what (Bruce Jenner) was going through, I started supporting him.”

While some may think Canseco vowing to dress like a woman in support of Jenner is just a feel good story about one elite athlete supporting another, there is, however, more to the story. Apparently, Jose Canseco will be filming his week long womanly journey for his new internet reality show, Spend A Day With Jose.

Jose said cameras will follow him as he dresses as she and plays golf, poker, softball, and bowls, leading some to wonder if Canseco is just trying to cash in on Jenner’s I am Cait success for his own benefit rather than offering true support to Jenner.

Canseco, who had an illustrious MLB career, has stayed in headlines for a variety of things including celebrity boxing matches, a brief MMA career, and more recently, accidentally shooting his finger off while cleaning his gun. Though the gun cleaning incident made Canseco a legend after he claimed the finger fell off after being re-attached during a poker game, it was later revealed that Canseco was joking about losing his finger again.

As Canseco seemingly attempts to try anything to remain relevant, it’s difficult to discern if Jose sees another former elite athlete re-inventing himself as Bruce Jenner comes out as Caitlyn Jenner or if the former major league slugger is truly trying to gain perspective for Jenner’s struggle. Only time will tell.
