New York Mets Trade Rumors: Carlos Gomez May Be Headed To The Mets
According to Adam Rubin of ESPN, the New York Mets are in hot pursuit of an outfielder that could change their lineup and shape how they play for the rest of the season. As of Wednesday, the New York Mets are currently one game behind the Washington Nationals for the lead in the National League East.
The New York Mets are interested in adding Carlos Gomez of the Milwaukee Brewers. Gomez, 29, would not be a rental as he is signed through next season. He will receive a manageable $9 million salary in 2016. The two-time All-Star is currently hitting.262 with eight home runs and 43 RBI.

With Gomez’s big bat and young pitching staff, it will be difficult to stop the New York Mets come September and October.
Carlos Gomez to the Mets? That's a deal that would worry the Nats and shake up the NL Wild Card race. Mets would have to pay heavy for him.

If the Mets are unable to obtain Gomez this season, he will most likely be a free agent after 2016, since his agent is Scott Boras. But the window for the New York Mets may already be shut after next season.
Carlos Gomez began his career with the New York Mets before getting traded to the Minnesota Twins in the trade that sent Johan Santana to the Big Apple in 2008.
Jerry Crasnick of ESPN writes on twitter, “The Mets indeed want Carlos Gomez. Heard are asking for a ‘top 4 starter’ in return. You know who they are,” Crasnick writes. “Sounds like Gomez-to-Mets deal will be tough to consummate unless Brewers drop their asking price.”
As previously reported by the Inquisitr, the San Francisco Giants have also expressed interest in acquiring Carlos Gomez before the July 31 trade deadline, but the New York Mets may be willing to offer closer to what the Brewers want. The Mets may be able to send Zach Wheeler to Milwaukee in order to obtain Gomez. Wheeler would be a “top 4 starter” with the Brewers.
Was told earlier that #Brewers’ price on Carlos Gomez was quite high. #Mets determined to get another bat, however. Said to be working hard.

#Brewers already sent Aramis Ramirez back to the Pirates. Carlos Gomez back to the Mets would be perfect.

Twenty-five-year-old center fielder Juan Lagares might also be part of the package that would bring in Gomez given his position and the need the Brewers will need to fill with Gomez’s absence.

If things do not work with Gomez, Gerardo Parra, another Brewers outfielder, is also on the trade block. Also, the Mets have expressed interest in Carlos Gonzalez of the Colorado Rockies and Jay Bruce of the Cincinnati Reds, two hard hitting outfielders.
#Mets have talked to #Brewers about Carlos Gomez, sources tell me and @jonmorosi. No deal appears close. NYM also looking at other hitters.

Do you think the New York Mets will make a transaction in order to acquire Carlos Gomez? If not, what other moves do you see the Giants making before the trade deadline on July 31?
I want Carlos Gomez. Wilmer please increase your trade value here. #mets
