Tony Lucca on Feud with The Voice Judge Christina Aguilera
Over the last few weeks Tony Lucca has endured harsh and what some say unnecessary criticism from fellow mouseketeer Christina Aguilera. Last night Lucca made it into the top four of The Voice competition, but if it was up to Aguilera, a judge on the show, the folk singer says he wouldn’t be there.
Christina Aguilera, who has called the singer “one dimensional” and has admitted to not being impressed by Lucca, took it up a notch last night during eliminations when she said competitor Katrina Parker had more star power than Lucca.
Tony Lucca, who’s been a fan favorite perhaps because of his MMC push, has reflected on Aguilera’s comments saying “I was just scratching my head like: ‘Really, you have to keep going on with this?’ ” He went on to say, “All of the other coaches have been pretty respectful about each other’s choices. But now it seems like she’s just flat-out trying to get me out of here.”
When reflecting on why Aguilera was pushing Adam Levine to take contestant Katrina Parker over Lucca, Tony didn’t take it personally but did admit he was offended “on Levine’s behalf.” Lucca, explains saying to PEOPLE, “He worked hard to make sure we were coming out on equal footing.” Still, he did admit that him and Levine do “have a brotherhood going on.”
This isn’t the first time Tony Lucca has spoken about Christina Aguilera’s choice words during The Voice competition, and at first he took it with a grain of salt, telling the Los Angeles Times about the one-dimensional comment, “I didn’t disagree with what she said. I understood where it was coming from.”
Now that the competition is coming down to the wire, and Aguilera still hasn’t let up in her criticisms, Tony is taking it to heart and wondering out loud if her vendetta is related to the past in the MMC, “It seems she’s harboring some legitimate and hardcore resentment that I didn’t figure. There has been a web of friendships that have stemmed from that show. And at various times different falling outs and alliances. That’s all I can really ascertain.”
If there’s anyone putting a positive spin on this it’s The Voice’s media correspondent, Christina Milian, “Maybe you can look at it with a negative eye, but there was positivity in it.”
Are you Team Christina Aguilera or Team Tony Lucca? Do you think Christina Aguilera has a vendetta against Tony?
