LA Lakers Rumors: Team Still Chasing Big Man And Could Trade For Another Guard
The LA Lakers have done some work during the offseason so far, but rumor has it that they aren’t quite done yet. It looks as if they are still hoping to land Kevin Seraphin, one of the few remaining big men on the free agent market, and there could be more. The Lakers are now rumored to be going after yet another guard in Eric Bledsoe, someone they’ve looked at trading for in the past.
When the Lakers lost out on trading for Brendan Haywood, it was yet another swing and a miss in the offseason. Still, they’ve traded for Roy Hibbert and brought in Lou Williams and Brandon Bass so it’s not a total wash.
There are still some options out there, though, and one of them is Kevin Seraphin who has played the last five seasons with the Washington Wizards. Lakers Nation reports that Los Angeles is one of a few teams still hoping to sign the free agent.

Seraphin would add some great depth to a frontcourt that has Julius Randle, Ryan Kelly, Robert Sacre, and Tarik Black. Now, even though another forward with experience would be great to have, it’s also possible that Kobe Bryant could be moved to small forward or power forward.
There is still one open spot left on the Lakers roster as they currently have 14 under contract. If the Lakers don’t sign Seraphin, undrafted rookie Robert Upshaw could be another option.
As for Kobe Bryant moving to the forward position, it’s possible to happen because the backcourt of the Lakers is getting so crowded. That’s why it is kind of odd that Sports World Report has rumors swirling of the Lakers possibly trading for Eric Bledsoe of the Phoenix Suns.
The report also mentions the New York Knicks and Houston Rockets as options for Bledsoe to land in a trade from the Suns.
This isn’t the first time that the Lakers have been mentioned in rumors to make a trade for Eric Bledsoe. Now, it would simply come as quite a surprise with a crowded backcourt of D’Angelo Russell and Jordan Clarkson with Lou Williams, last season’s Sixth Man of the Year, now on the team.
The LA Lakers have made some offseason moves that could be met with great success, but rumors wouldn’t persist if all pieces of the puzzle were on place. Kevin Seraphin could fill a slot, but a trade for Eric Bledsoe seems unnecessary and far-fetched.
