New York Mets Trade Rumors: Carlos Gonzalez May Be Headed To The Mets
According to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, the New York Mets may be interested in making a move that would bring a versatile outfielder to Citi Field.
The New York Mets may look to add Carlos Gonzalez, 29, a two-time All-Star who fits the description of a big-hitting outfielder, which the Mets have been searching for desperately. Along with the New York Mets, the Los Angeles Angels, who recently acquired David DeJesus, David Murphy, and Shane Victorino, and the Baltimore Orioles, who are in talks with Justin Upton, may also be interested in acquiring Gonzalez.

With both of the two other teams possibly in contention for Gonzalez, that leaves only the New York Mets to swoop Carlos off the trade block. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, the New York Mets have also inquired to the Cincinnati Reds about Jay Bruce, and to the Detroit Tigers regarding Yoenis Cespedes, two hard hitting outfielders who may be on the move.

The Colorado Rockies made it apparent that they were looking to sell after making a surprising move that sent Troy Tulowitzki and LaTroy Hawkins to the Toronto Blue Jays. Gonzalez may be another big contract they are looking to unload. CarGo is set to make $47 million through the 2017 season and will receive $1 million signing bonus if he were to be traded. The Rockies are in last place in the National League West, 12 1/2 games behind the leading Los Angeles Dodgers.
Rockies general manager Jeff Bridich attempted to trade both stars this past winter, but the play of Tulo and CarGo has aided their trade value.
Gonzalez was plagued by injuries throughout the 2014 season, but he is back on track now. Currently, Carlos is one of the hottest hitters, making him even more attractive to the New York Mets. He has 20 home runs, 51 RBI, with a .278 batting average after starting the season poorly in April. Following an impressive stretch where Gonzalez hit two home runs in three of his last four games, Carlos has 10 homers, 23 RBI, a .405 batting average, and 1.328 OPS this month.
One possible player going to Colorado in return is Zach Wheeler, who the New York Mets have said is available in recent trade talks. Wheeler would be a welcome addition to a Rockies staff, which is ranked last in baseball in ERA, with a 4.94.
Do you think the New York Mets will make a transaction in order to acquire Carlos Gonzalez? If not, what other moves do you see the Mets making before the trade deadline on July 31?
If Carlos Gonzalez goes to the mets that would be perfect ?
