‘Final Fantasy Type-0 HD’ Coming To PC, No Mention of ‘Final Fantasy XV’ Demo

Square Enix announced today that the recent Final Fantasy Type-0 HD remaster that came to consoles earlier this year will launch on PC next month. Final Fantasy Type-0 is a remaster of the original PSP version of the game that brought a lot of attention to Type-0, and also gave fans their first chance to play the upcoming Final Fantasy XV via a pre-order demo.

According to the press release sent out by Square Enix, Final Fantasy Type-0 HD will hit Steam August 18. The PC version of the Final Fantasy remaster is being touted as having the original look and feel envisioned by game director Hajime Tabata, which can be attributed to the fact that PC hardware is inherently more powerful than its console counterparts.

“Developing FINAL FANTASY TYPE-0 HD for Steam gave us the opportunity to fully realize our original vision of the game in an enhanced and refined experience exclusively for PC players,” said Director Hajime Tabata via the press release.

These enhancements include an improved in-game battle camera, full Steam achievements and trading cards, scalable motion blur settings, and a customizable dynamic screenshot mode. The PC version will also include support for upgraded resolution levels (though no indication if this means native 4K support or just support for down-sampled resolutions in-game) and increased blood levels. Those who pre-order Final Fantasy Type-0 HD for Steam will also receive a Master Chocobo as your courier and Moogle in DOTA 2, and an exclusive FINAL FANTASY TYPE-0 HD loading screen.

Square Enix posted the system requirements for Final Fantasy Type-0 HD for PC as well.

However, the bigger question is whether or not PC gamers will ever see the Final Fantasy XV demo that was shipped with the console versions of the game. Final Fantasy XV: Episode Duscae was a major hit with console players as it gave them the chance to experience the new world that Square Enix is building with the next new installment in the series. However, no PC version of the game has ever been announced, so it’s unclear as to whether Final Fantasy fans will ever see the new game on their monstrous rig. Recent examples of PC versions of Final Fantasy games appearing give players hope (such as Type-0 coming to Steam months after its console release), and a demo of the Luminous Engine running on PC makes the case even more compelling that Final Fantasy XV will appear unhindered on PC, but as of now no news regarding a PC demo for Final Fantasy XV has come out. The Inquisitr reached out to Square Enix for more information and will update when that becomes available.

It’ll be interesting to see what the Square team is talking about with Final Fantasy Type-0 HD being the “original vision” of the game when it launches next month. With the graphical improvements over the current release, as well as the bevy of features listed above, Final Fantasy fans on PC will have plenty to dive into come August 18.
