‘The Bachelorette’ Finale: Nick Viall Claims ‘I Was In Shock’ When Kaitlyn Bristowe Chose Shawn Booth

The season 11 finale of The Bachelorette saw Kaitlyn Bristowe deal the heartbreaking news to Nick Viall that she was in love with Shawn Booth. Following her engagement to Booth at the end of the episode, Viall opened up to People about how he felt after getting the news.

‘I was in shock… And then reality set in and I felt that hurt and pain. It sucked.”

Although Viall has had his share of conflicts with other men on the show throughout the season, he went on to state that he doesn’t hold anything against Booth, with whom he had the biggest feud.

“It was unfortunate and it was frustrating,” Viall stated concerning the fight he had with Booth.

“We looked immature and petty. But I have no animosity towards Shawn. And I didn’t get to know him well, but I did get to know Kaitlyn, and I trust her judgment. No matter what I think, that says something. Shawn and I just butted heads.”

Meanwhile, during The Bachelorette: After the Final Rose special, Viall and host Chris Harrison further talked about his feud with Booth. “I let those frustrations get the best of me,” Viall told Harrison. “I ended up not being much better. We let our immaturity come out; we weren’t the best versions of ourselves.”

Harrison went on to encourage Viall to mend his relationship with Booth. “I can’t try to be nice to somebody I don’t have a good feeling about,” he told Harrison in return, before adding that ABC over hyped the feud he had with Booth.

At the same time, this marks the second time — Viall was dumped by Andi Dorfman last year — in consecutive years that Viall has come in second place. With that in mind, Viall revealed that he is officially done with the show.

“There is zero percent chance I’ll go back… I am done with The Bachelorette!”

While Viall was understandably disappointed with how things turned out, especially considering he and Bristowe said “I love you” to each other, Bristowe and Booth are ready to move on with their lives and leave the reality show behind them.

“The best thing that can happen tomorrow morning when I wake up is that I can stand up for my girl and defend her now,” Booth stated in the after show.

“This girl is the strongest woman that I’ve met in my entire life.”
