One Direction star Niall Horan has spoken out about his fears that he or his band-mates could be killed at the hands of One Direction fans.
Niall and his band-mates, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Liam Payne, have to cope with being hounded by fans everywhere they go. Whilst on tour, Niall and his mates have to cope with large groups of fans camping outside their hotels. The hounding doesn’t stop there — at home, Niall’s fans are often camped outside his house. Add that to the constant attention of the paparazzi, and Horan rarely gets a moment’s privacy.
Horan has complained in the past about the pressures of living life in the constant glare of publicity and the difficulties he and the rest of the band face whilst on tour. Now, the Mirror reports that Niall has taken to Twitter to reveal his fears after fans chased his car down the freeway whilst the band were in Minneapolis.
Horan took to Twitter to plead with fans to drive safely and to stop chasing their cars in a “crazy manner.”
Guys, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again Ya can’t keep driving this crazy, ya gotta be safe on the roads ! Seriously

This thing of chasing our cars down the freeway, it’s not safe , changing lanes in a crazy manner at 65mph is not on b

While Niall is obviously concerned for his own safety and for the safety of his band mates, the Evening Standard points out that Horan is also concerned that the bands fans and other road users are being put in danger.
Whilst Horan did not make reference to it on Twitter, One Direction fans need to understand that celebrities like Niall and his mates are often driven by highly trained drivers who are trained in escape and evasion driving techniques. Drivers in this line of work are very often former members of special forces, the secret service, or royalty protection units who are trained to keep their charges safe at all costs.
By chasing Niall and the other members of One Direction in this way, fans are putting the lives of themselves, their idols, and innocent road users at risk. Accidents do happen, and famously, Princess Diana was killed in a road crash as her security team tried to evade paparazzi on the night of her death.
By highlighting the dangers of this type of action, Niall Horan will be hoping to avoid a fatal accident.
