Yasiel Puig Trade Rumors: Dodgers All-Star Discusses Trade Possibilities

Yasiel Puig trade rumors took an interesting turn as the LA Dodgers All-Star spoke publicly about them. A Puig trade could certainly bring back significant assets for the Dodgers, but dealing the talented outfielder could also be seen as a move of desperation. A report from Yahoo! Sports has several quotes from Puig, a player that has never seemingly lived up to his talent.

“I’ll play anywhere. I came to the United States [from Cuba] to play baseball. Baseball is the same anywhere. If they want to trade me, that’s their decision. I can’t do anything about that.”

There have been differing stories floating around, with several Yasiel Puig trade rumors getting refuted by the front office in Los Angeles. A new report from the LA Times seems to indicate otherwise, and that the Dodgers would indeed deal Puig if “the right offer” came along. It could all be a tactic to get the best package possible for Puig, but fans have got to be getting tired of the conflicting information that the media has been given.

So what is really happening now? MLB analysts aren’t getting the same answers from their “sources” within the organization. It’s clear to anyone following the situation that the Dodgers would expect a lot in return for Puig, and that there is a lot of starting pitching on the trade market right now. A team could certainly work up a package of players to get Puig, but there are serious questions about whether or not the Dodgers would pull the trigger.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, a poll of fans stated that these Yasiel Puig trade rumors would actually please fans if something came from them. A majority of the respondents not only want to see Puig dealt for pitching, but also for manager Don Mattingly to be fired. The animosity toward Mattingly seems to stem from the Dodgers failing in the postseason recently. Though he helped lead the team to another National League West title during the 2014 MLB season, the lack of postseason success has turned fans against him.

With Scott Van Slyke, Carl Crawford, Andre Ethier, and Joc Pederson all capable of being starting outfielders for the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team has the depth to pull off a Yasiel Puig trade. It is also the perfect opportunity for a team to bring on young and talented outfielder, but the price is going to be pretty high.
