The wrestling fan world is waiting for the icon, the vigilante, the man called Sting , to return to WWE television and get involved in something, anything. Word has it that he is going to be involved in a big match at SummerSlam with a number of current main roster stars, but when will he officially be back? The rumor going around is that he will be back tonight on Monday Night RAW and get things started.
Cageside Seats is reporting that Sting’s involvement for his return and for SummerSlam could be made clear on RAW this evening.
Now, that doesn’t make it entirely clear on whether Sting will show up and make his long-awaited return or if storylines will just begin to work around him. It would be odd to have WWE have his return announced without him actually showing up.
That would take a bit of the excitement out of the whole situation.
The expected plan is for the Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose vs. The Wyatt Family feud to continue. Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper could have their third family member (maybe Bo Dallas) join them on RAW tonight and set the stage for Sting’s return.
Reigns and Ambrose would have to find a third partner to even the sides for the fight, and that would end up being Sting. With Seth Rollins moving onto a feud with John Cena, it doesn’t appear as if The Shield will be reuniting just yet.
The two former Hounds of Justice will need to find a partner, and that opens the door for Sting to join them.
WWE has released their official preview for Monday Night RAW , and it focuses on the feud between Ambrose/Reigns and the Wyatt Family. They tease a few things, but mention nothing of Sting or a third family member or anything like that.
“Even though The Lunatic Fringe is the uncrowned king of mind games — just ask Seth Rollins — Ambrose still fell victim to Wyatt’s theatrics on SmackDown, when The New Face of Fear and his hulking disciple distracted the unstable Superstar and cost him his match with Sheamus. Will Ambrose and Reigns be ready should Wyatt and Harper strike again? Can you ever truly be ready when The Wyatt Family is involved?”
SummerSlam is going to be a huge showcase for WWE this year, and it’s possibly even moving to four hours to contain everything planned. Sting showing up would be huge, and also keep rumors going that a Sting vs. The Undertaker match still has a chance of happening in the future.
Sting’s return to the ring is something that fans want and are highly anticipating, but WWE apparently wants to make it as much of a surprise as possible. It’s likely that he will return closer to SummerSlam , but there could be big hints dropped tonight on Monday Night RAW .
