Caitlyn Jenner Breaks Down Sharing Transgender Hope & Heartbreak, Including Suicidal Despair, In ‘I Am Cait’ [Video]
Caitlyn Jenner breaks down as she introduces her new self to the world in her docu-series I Am Cait. It’s all part of a time of change for a family known first as the relatives of an Olympic champion and then as relatives of the Keeping Up With The Kardashians clan.
But although tears flow, Caitlyn also has cause to celebrate as she shows her authentic self in her docu-series I Am Cait, reported Today.
The eight episodes show how Caitlyn’s family and friends, including new ones, react to the transition from Bruce to Caitlyn Jenner. And it’s woven with both tears and warm wit.
“Now I know why girls need a sports bra,” Jenner tells her sister, Pam, as they play tennis.
However, Caitlyn also shows that she is aware that she has become a face for the transgender community.
“What a responsibility I have towards this community,” Jenner noted on the first episode. “I just hope I get it right.”
And I Am Cait also emphasizes acceptance. Kylie Jenner is initially hesitant, but then warm and welcoming as she sees the face of her transformed parent.
“I do want to meet her,” said Kylie. “It’ll all be a little uncomfortable in the beginning, but I think we’re both ready.”
And the youngest Jenner family member’s greeting to her first sight of Caitlyn is charming.
“Hey, pretty!” says Kylie.
“Hey, baby! I didn’t know you were here,” exclaims Caitlyn with a hug.
Also needing to adjust to the change is Jenner’s mother, Esther, who sees her accompanied by daughters Lisa and Pam.
“I think he’s a very good-looking woman,” said Esther. “He’s still Bruce. I love him so much. I always have, I always will.” Esther adds of the transition, “It’s a lot of getting used to, but I will.”
However, when Esther then remembers her pride in Bruce’s gold medal at the 1976 Olympics, she reveals her true acceptance of Caitlyn.
“I was so proud of Bruce when he stood on that podium receiving that gold medal in Montreal. I had tears and the American flag was going up in the middle and I thought that I could never be more proud of him. And you know, I was wrong. Because I am more proud of him for the courage that he has shown. I love him with all my heart and I certainly love her with all my heart.”
In addition to the youngest and oldest members of Jenner’s family, Caitlyn shows how much she cherishes Kanye West and Kim Kardashian.
“Kanye and I have never really been very close, but I love his open-mindedness and I love how he has helped Kim come to grips with what’s going on,” said Caitlyn.
And Kanye returns the love.
“I think this is one of the strongest things that have happened in our existence as human beings, that are so controlled by perception. You couldn’t have been up against more,” declared West.
In addition, Caitlyn received fashion guidance from fashionista Kim. But although those moments are light, the darkest side of Jenner’s transition experience is also revealed when she with the family of a transgender teen who killed himself at age 14.
“I know how these kids can feel. I’ve had some very dark moments in my life,” shared Caitlyn. “I’ve been in my house with a gun and said, ‘Let’s just end it right here.’ No more pain, no more suffering. That struggle, it’s real and I’ve been there.”
As the Inquisitr reported, Jenner has received support from close friend and mentor, transgender activist Candis Cayne.
Both Candis and Boy George showed their support at Caitlyn’s recent transgender religious naming ceremony. Jenner’s spiritual celebration included a formal naming by a minister. Candis and Boy George performed.
Caitlyn also breaks down in a new video, reported Us Weekly.
Talking about her Vanity Fair cover, Jenner reveals what was involved in making “Call Me Caitlyn” successful.
“He was at a stage in his life where he was going to make this seismic change,” said Graydon Carter, editor.
