According to Jon Morosi of Fox Sports , the San Francisco Giants are in the chase to make an acquisition that would help their rotation dramatically and aide in a possible playoff run this season. The San Francisco Giants are currently one game behind the Los Angeles Dodgers for first place in the National League West.
In David Price market, #SFGiants #Dodgers and #BlueJays may be better fits than #Cubs . My column: http://t.co/pgTUZU9s4f @FOXSports

The San Francisco Giants are interested in making a trade that would give them David Price, the ace of the Detroit Tigers. In the race for Price, the San Francisco Giants are joined by the Dodgers, Toronto Blue Jays, and Chicago Cubs. To obtain the 29-year-old left-hander, an organization would certainly have to surrender a pitcher could fit into the Tigers’ rotation for 2016.
As previously reported by the Inquisitr , the Detroit Tigers trade rumors, that have been surfacing over the past couple of weeks, indicate that the team is about to start selling, as they have fallen out of contention in the American League Central.
Price and Alfredo Simon are set to become free agents after this season, leaving Anibal Sanchez and Justin Verlander, who have both struggled greatly in 2015, as the top returning starting pitchers.
The Detroit Tigers pitchers who are under contract for 2016 have only won 18 in the majors this season. Obviously, the team needs pitching if they hope to contend in upcoming years.
The Chicago Cubs do not fit the mold of a team who have quality pitching to give up. C.J. Edwards has been moved to the bullpen due to control issues, and Duane Underwood has been on the disabled list since June. These two are the top pitchers in the Cubs’ farm system.
The Dodgers are highly reluctant to move Julio Urias , but AA right-hander Jose De Leon could be ready to join a major league rotation next season.
#Tigers hope Cole Hamels lands with #Rangers . That would leave #Dodgers still in market for a top starter, driving up David Price’s value.

Meanwhile, the San Francisco Giants have a number of great pitching prospects who could possibly be major-league ready by next year. The list of San Francisco Giants prospects includes Tyler Beede, Joe Biagini, Kelvin Marte, and Keury Mella.

While the Blue Jays are unlikely to trade Marcus Stroman, who is injured, in any deal they have pitching prospects Daniel Norris and Jeff Hoffmann in the upper level of the minors.
Do you think the San Francisco Giants will make a transaction in order to acquire David Price? If not, what other moves do you see the Giants making before the trade deadline on July 31?
