Drake Had A ‘Charged Up’ ‘Right Hand’ — His Meek Mill Diss Doesn’t Miss [Audio]
Drake has kept everyone waiting for a response to Meek Mill’s Twitter beef. Well, Drizzy finally gave it. Through clever lyrics, many think Drake may have ended Meek’s career as well as relationship.
If you’ve been following the controversy between Drake, Nicki Minaj, and Meek Mill, you know that Mill put out some serious allegations about Drizzy and his lyrical legitimacy. Drake is held as one of the most influential rappers of this generation. And his reputation was put on the chopping block when Meek accused him of having ghostwriters create his lyrics.
For a week, Drake has kept quiet and hasn’t really responded. However, it seems that he was just awaiting his turn. And he didn’t respond via Twitter with a few tweets. No. He took his voice to the airwaves at Beats One Radio, a streaming radio service from Apple — via OVO Sound Radio.
There, he showcased two new tracks: “Charged Up” and “Right Hand”.
“Charged Up” is, allegedly, a diss track to Meek — airing a few things about his past and career, as well as the current beef. And “Right Hand” is believed to be a diss track to Mill as well, however, from the viewpoint of Drake and Nicki Minaj’s friendship.
There were so many punchlines that simply could’ve broken lyrical bones. In “Charged Up,” basically, the overtone of the track says that Drizzy isn’t worried about his allegations. As he starts, Drake’s lyrics point out that he did some charity work for the kids [supposedly, Mills’ feature for “R.I.C.O.”]. Ouch.
“I did some charity, today, for the kids. But I’m used to it, cause all y’all charity cases. All y’all stare in my face and hope you could be the replacement. N***as snitching on us without no interrogation. I stay silent cause we at war, and I stay very patient. ‘6 God’ is watching, and I just hope that you’re prepared to face’m…
Wow… I’m honored that you think this is staged. I’m flattered, man. In fact, I’m amazed. The perfect start to the summer, man. This s**t is a doozy. This is a twist to the movie, but don’t jump to conclusions.”
Then, Drake even made reference to Mill’s recent beef with Joe Budden — making the delivery in a very “Budden” signature style.
“You boys ain’t getting any of your feelings on me. You should embrace it. This could be one of my realest moments. Okay, the flow starting to feel familiar, don’t it? Must I remind you that Jimmy got $20 million on him?”
Then, Drizzy’s new song practically closes the casket when he makes an indirect reference to the recent collaboration with Mill.
“Done doing favors for people. Cause it ain’t like I need the money I make off a feature. I see you n***as having trouble going gold, turning into some ‘so in so’s that no one knows.
And as if he knows Meek is going become meek, he possibly tells his team as follows.
“But so it go, come live out all your dreams at OVO. We gon’ make sure you get your bread and you know the ropes.”
Wow. He even pointed to the fact that, during all the recent police brutality, Meek is focusing on making him look bad — as Mill was once a victim of police brutality himself.
And in “Right Hand,” he mentioned — allegedly to Minaj — “just know that these streets just don’t love you like I do…and they never will. But I swear you gotta chill.” Drake also added a line about a possible photo that was sent to him.
What do you think? Drake’s right hand was strong, was it not?
