The match is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. at Queens Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad. That time is identical to United States Eastern Daylight Time, or 1:30 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time.
The Red Steel seem to play better cricket the more cricket they play. After a season-opening no-result due to rain, the Dwayne Bravo-led side took two weeks to get their next three games in, thanks to the CPL schedule-makers — and they lost all three.
But despite the seemingly disastrous start leaving the Red Steel with just one point with four of their 10 matches gone, Trinidad & Tobago came storming back, closing the season with four games in six days between July 16 and 21, wining three of those four to earn a berth in the CPL playoffs, finishing in third place.
Then the Red Steel played a fifth game in eight days, opening the playoffs with a win over the Jamaica Tallawahs in Port of Spain on Thursday’s first elimination match.
That victory — featuring a five-wicket haul from Dwayne Bravo and an 86-run stand off of 63 balls by the other Bravo, Darren — lifted the Red Steel into Saturday’s semifinal.
Their opponent on Saturday, the Guyana Amazon Warriors, are the only team to have beaten the Red Steel on their current five-game, eight day run, and the game will be a rematch of the CPL group stage finale in which Guyana’s seven wicket win with 18 balls remaining blocked Trinidad & Tobago from a first-place finish that would have given them a bye straight into Sunday’s final.
Instead, that bye went to the Barbados Tridents.
Will the Trinidad & Tobago Red Steel win their third match in five days to advance to the Caribbean Premier League final, or will the Guyana Amazon Warriors benefit from the extra rest to earn their second straight Final berth.
