Billy Graham Reveals ‘The Greatest Truth About Heaven’
Billy Graham is a popular, long-time evangelist for the Christian faith. Recently, a follower of his column, which appears in the Kansas City Star, asked his opinion on what heaven is like.
“Dear Billy Graham: Where is heaven? Will our telescopes ever discover it, or is it too far away? I have a hard time imagining what heaven must be like, although I think about it a lot.”
This question may be difficult to answer for most of us, but not so for Graham. He states that heaven is most assuredly real, as the Bible tells us that heaven does exist, but it does not let us in on the secret of exactly where heaven is. Finding heaven by telescope is highly unlikely as well. In Graham’s opinion, heaven could possibly exist in a different dimension, one that we cannot be aware of here on Earth.
“Although in recent years scientists have discovered new worlds of unimaginable beauty, I want to assure you that heaven will be far more glorious! Every description the Bible gives us makes it clear that heaven is filled with wonders and treasures far greater than anything we know on earth.”
Despite the fact that heaven will be filled with beauty beyond our wildest imaginings, Billy says that, although wonderful, that is not the best part of heaven. What is? His answer is both infinitely simple and profound all at once.
“The greatest truth about heaven, however, is that it is the dwelling place of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ. No doubt we’ll be stunned by heaven’s beauty, but most of all we will be overwhelmed by being in God’s presence. The Bible says, “It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel” (Revelation 21:11).”
Heaven, Billy says, is available for all of us. While we each have the chance to go to heaven when we die, there is truly one way to get there: through the saving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ.
“Do you look forward to heaven? And are you certain you will go there when you die? You can be, because God has provided the way for us to be cleansed of our sins and welcomed into his presence forever. That way is Christ, who gave his life so we could be saved. Make sure today that heaven will be your eternal home, by repenting of your sins and giving your life to Jesus Christ.”
Do you agree with Billy Graham’s belief of heaven? Why or why not?
