What Happened To These Two Guys Who Ate Only At Chipotle For More Than 150 Days Straight?
When it comes to eating out these days, many Americans are suckers for fast, unhealthy food, but not everyone.
Take, for example, friends Mark Rantal and Andrew Hawryluk, who like to stay in shape and wanted to see what would happen if they ate only at Chipotle for 100 days straight. The results are interesting, to say the least.
As one of the friends, Rantal, 30, told reporters, he fell upon the culinary experiment by mistake.
“On Monday, I decided to get Chipotle and on Tuesday, I made the same decision, then got lunch with my friend there on Wednesday. We laughed about it at lunch and he asked how long I thought I could go. And that began the thought,” he explained.
The pair never imagined for a second that they would become a viral hit on the world wide web with their new experiment.
Rantal explained, “Every time I hit a milestone, it was very easy and convenient to imagine hitting the next. For me, food is one of those things as fuel instead of celebration. I’ve just never really gotten so into it. It became so convenient of you know where you’re going, you know the friendly faces of the staff, you know you enjoy the meal and you know you’re going to get the calories.”
So popular is Rantal at his local Chipotle store, for obvious reasons, that he even gets a free meal for every 10 he buys.
Rantal continued, “It’s fun. Right now it’s convenient and it’s a habit, so I don’t see a reason (to stop). The (one-year) milestone isn’t appealing enough to have to put in the effort, but there is a tiny wistful part of me that just thinks, ‘Wouldn’t it be hilarious to be the guy who ate Chipotle for a year?’ But I don’t know if I want to be that guy.”
The other friend, Andrew, estimates that he has forked out more than $1,500 at Chipotle, making him another face that the branch staff are always happy to see. Andrew’s staple at the Mexican grill is white rice, chicken, guacamole, and lettuce, topped with Tabasco chipotle hot sauce.
Andrew said, “It’s an undeniably delicious meal, It tastes kind of like Mexican sushi.”
Yummy it may be, but did these guys need to eat it for months on end?
Well, you have to look at the results here, and as both Mark and Andrew are both into body building, the kind of food offered at Chipotle is perfect for their needs, particularly the rice and avocado, as well as the protein from the meat. It certainly beats out other fast food joints, mainly those serving burgers and fries.
