Barbara Evans is not a fan of Nathan Griffith or of his relationship with her daughter, Teen Mom 2 star Jenelle Evans. Although Jenelle and Nathan have a child together, 1-year-old Kaiser, Barbara Evans was hoping their broken engagement would remain called off. Unfortunately for her, that wasn’t what happened.
On July 23, Jenelle spoke to OK! Magazine about Barbara Evans’ thoughts on her and Griffith’s relationship, and explained why she’s taking her to court for more rights to her biological son, 5-year-old Jace.
“[Barbara Evans] told me not to get back with [Nathan] and if he comes crawling back, don’t get back with him, of course, same old, same old,” Jenelle explained to the magazine.
As for why she recently filed for more rights to her son, Jenelle claimed it was Barbara Evans’ flakiness that led her to take action.
“Back around Christmas time, [Barbara Evans] was just… Me and Nathan, we were kind of arguing a lot, but she was still keeping Jace away from me even if I was like, ‘Well, what if I don’t have Nathan there?’ She’s like, ‘No, absolutely not.’ This went on for like a month and I was like, ‘Alright, that’s it. I’m done. You’re not keeping him from me any longer.’ So then I went and pursued custody because I was just fed up.”
After welcoming Jace in 2010, Jenelle signed over all parental rights to Barbara Evans, and ever since, she has been the child’s main provider. Throughout Jenelle’s first marriage, addiction to drugs, and legal drama, Barbara Evans was there to ensure Jace was healthy and safe. Now that Jenelle has gotten her life together, however, she wants to regain her rights and begin to parent her son.
“The custody order that’s in place basically says, ‘Whatever [Barbara Evans] says goes.’ And I want something set in stone to where it says, ‘Jenelle gets him these days.’ So that she has to follow by the guidelines.”
As the Inquisitr previously reported, Barbara Evans failed to congratulate Jenelle on her engagement when it first happened in January of this year. At the time, as Jenelle revealed in a bonus clip, shared by Wetpaint Entertainment , the Teen Mom 2 star claimed her mother didn’t want her to get married, not to Griffith, and not to anyone, for that matter.
