‘Jurassic World 2’ Sequel Announced For June 2018 Release, Pratt And Howard Will Return
A Jurassic World sequel is in the works for a June, 2018, release, according to a statement from Universal. And given the record-breaking box office numbers set off by Jurassic World this summer, no one should is surprised.
Jurassic World stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are expected to reprise their roles in the yet-to-be-named film. This is music to the ears of Jurassic fans who consider the sequel to the original Jurassic Park, The Lost World to be the worst of the franchise, in part due to the fact that Jeff Goldblum was the only original character to reprise his role.
It seems no director has been given the reins for the sequel but World director Colin Trevorrow has agreed to co-write the script with Jurassic World screenwriter Derek Connolly and co-produce with Jurassic franchise producer Steven Spielberg.
Jurassic World is currently the third largest grossing film of all time. The film raked in $296 million in its first week alone.
While there is no official plot release for the upcoming World, some theorize that Jurassic World set it up for an obvious sequel with the exit of one integral character. [**Spoilers ahead**]
As fans of the Jurassic series may remember, Dr. Wu returned from the original Jurassic Park in a reprisal of his role as the scientist responsible for manipulating that dino DNA. Jurassic World sees Dr. Wu whisked away into a helicopter by a top secret security team along with a case full of dino embryos. Could it be that Dr. Wu will go forth and create a new island or little dino weapons of mass destruction? Only time will tell.
And Twitter was abuzz as people came up with plot ideas of their own:

Regardless of what the plot holds, the majority of people were excited for the Jurassic World return with the only complaint being that 2018 is “so far away.”
And you thought Sharknado 4 would be the most exciting sequel announced this week!
Are you looking forward to another Jurassic World or do you think Universal should quit while it’s ahead?
