Ben Carson Goes Against Planned Parenthood
Ever since he announced his bid for the presidency in May, Ben Carson has not hesitated to speak on current and emerging issues. Ben Carson has also had a few challenging moments, but, of course, his words didn’t arouse as much of an uproar as the comments of Donald Trump. “The Donald” recently found himself at loggerheads with the Mexican community after making a very insensitive comment about Mexican immigrants.
Here is the transcript of Trump’s verbal barrage according to the Washington Post.
“The U.S. has become a dumping ground for everybody else’s problems. [Applause] Thank you. It’s true, and these are the best and the finest. When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”
However, Trump insisted he was only referring to illegal immigrants, and his comments had a positive effect on his polls. Despite some backlash, Trump’s popularity rose sharply shortly after his outburst.
Later, he was involved in a Twitter war with drug cartel leader El Chapo Guzman, who is currently at large. The drug lord is said to have used an unverified Twitter account that is said to be linked to one of his sons, although it is unknown who specifically used the account.
Ben Carson, on the other hand, has been more careful with his words up to this point.
Last week, Ben Carson commented on a highly edited video on Planned Parenthood that accused its founder, Margaret Sanger, of attempting to eliminate the black population. This was during a radio interview in Iowa with Jan Mickelson.
In the video, Dr. Deborah Nucatola who is a director of Planned Parenthood explains how her organization uses donated tissue from aborted fetuses.
Apparently, she was duped into thinking she was speaking to potential buyers from an interested biological company, while she was in fact to talking to a group of actors from the Center for Medical Progress, which carries an anti-abortion agenda.
The video’s main theme was slanted towards the concept that Planned Parenthood was mainly created to promote abortion and ‘destroy’ the black community. And when Obama said “God bless you” in the clip’s soundbite, Ben Carson questioned his judgment on the issue.
“You wonder if he actually knows the history of Planned Parenthood and Margaret Sanger, who was trying to eliminate black people. That was the whole purpose of it.”
The following was Ben Carson’s parting shot after watching the video as reported by Right Wing Watch.
“If we can’t defund Planned Parenthood after this, we’re lost, we’re just in the wilderness forever. This is the smoking gun. We’ve always known the kind of organization this and how anti-life they are.”
