Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s takeover of Brooke Shields’ rental house is a move that will allow the newly-split couple the opportunity to tackle some significant renovations on their existing home. Though Ben and Jen recently announced that a divorce is on the way, they are going to great lengths to put their three children first, and this house situation is central to their efforts. People shares that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner will rent Brooke Shields’ nearby home for a bit. Brooke’s house is said to be quite close to Affleck and Garner’s home, so the family won’t be too terribly uprooted while the project is done on their home.

The couple is renting Shields’ place for the duration of the renovations on their home, and it seems that they’ll both be living there with their kids once they all return to Los Angeles. The family is currently in Atlanta for the summer as Jennifer films a new movie called Miracles from Heaven.

As Variety shares, Shields and her husband, Chris Henchy, recently put their Pacific Palisades, California, home on the rental market. The home has 5,345 square feet of space with five bedrooms. The home is said to sit just a short walk from the Affleck/Garner home and is available because Brooke and her family live primarily in New York City these days.

Just what are the renovations that Affleck and Garner are doing on their own Pacific Palisades home? It seems that they are making in-depth changes that will better allow for both Ben and Jennifer to live on the property while having some separate space. The couple has indicated that they are going that route in order to ensure they can co-parent their three children successfully.

Page Six details that the family’s current place is a 8,800-square-foot home, and it seems that an additional building is being added to the property presumably for Affleck. It seems that the master bedroom wing is undergoing significant changes as well. Affleck and Garner purchased the Los Angeles home in 2009, and indications are that they feel they can make the property work for the family as a whole despite the pending divorce.

Ben and Jen have been putting on a united front for their kids, Violet, 9, Seraphina, 6, and Samuel, 3. The two are seen still wearing their wedding rings frequently, seemingly for the sake of the kids, and they are said to have even adopted a puppy recently.
