James Franco’s Lana Del Rey Book: Will It ‘Tell All’ About Their Relationship?

Amidst the ongoing rumors that James Franco and Lana Del Rey are secretly a couple, it turns out that there’s another reason why they’ve been spotted together so often. That’s not to say they aren’t dating. James and Lana have been on the romance radar for a long time and no one is certain what their relationship is. What is certain is that Franco has written a book about Del Rey, and needed to spend a lot of time with her for his research.

Flip Side: Real and Imaginary Conversations with Lana Del Rey, is 100 pages of stories and photographs about Lana Del Rey. As the title suggests, not all the stories are true, just as not all the romance rumors are true, though Franco has never made a secret of his admiration for Del Rey, “and now, he’s taken his admiration to the next level.”

The cover is more than a hint of what’s to come inside the book, with dozens of snapshots of Lana alone and several selfies of the singer with Franco.

Back in January, Franco dropped some hints about the possibility of a book about Del Rey when he wrote an article for V Magazine. The article was full of his “musing about Del Rey’s artistry” as a musician, poet and video artist. He described her as “stiff, distant, and weird” on stage and shared some thoughts about how the singer works out the tension between art and real life.

“Lana lives in her art, and when she comes down to earth for interviews, it gets messy, because she isn’t made for this earth. She is made to live in the world she creates. She is one who has been so disappointed by life, she had to create her own world. Just let her live in it.”

Franco noted that Lana told him it would be “better” not to use her own words. “Just write around me,” she said. “It’s almost better if you don’t get me exactly, but try.”

With all the ongoing dating rumors, there may turn out to be some real stories of romance between James and Lana in the new book, or in Del Rey’s Honeymoon album, due out in September. The Twitterverse seems to think that they’re a good couple.
