Kim Richards On Relapse: ‘I Needed A Break From What I Was Going Through At Home’

Kim Richards has been struggling with her sobriety for quite some time as fans of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills know. Even though Richards denied drinking while filming the previous season of the show, she was arrested for drunken intoxication and banned from the Beverly Hills Hotel as a result. Her actions caused her to seek help in a rehab and now, Kim is back at home.

There have been many rumors surrounding Kim Richards and her role on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. As Kim herself revealed last season, her children were counting on her to stay sober. If she got drunk one more time, they would leave her behind. Months later, Richards got wasted at the Beverly Hills Hotel and was arrested. Now, she is sharing her story.

According to a new US Weekly report, Kim Richards revealed that more things were going on behind the scenes, and she simply needed an escape from troubles at home. She has been taking care of her sick ex-husband, Monty, who is battling cancer.

“I love sobriety. I’ve always loved sobriety, and relapsing was very hard for me. It was not easy. I have to say, don’t take this wrong, but I really wanted to go to treatment because I needed a break from what I was going through at home,” Kim Richards reveals in her interview with Entertainment Tonight which aired last night.

“Monty, my ex-husband, is very sick and my son wasn’t well. And I had to give away my dog, and I wasn’t talking to my sister [Kyle],” Kim revealed. She added that the stress at home was her reason for relapsing, saying, “Actually, my arrest was my ‘Aha, I get to go away now and rest and take a break from all this. I don’t want anybody to take this wrong, but I truly needed a break from hospitals, family, the pressure. I needed to go away.”

As for Richards’ role on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, she admits that producers have asked her to return. Her representative is in talks with producers, but Kim didn’t offer up a final answer. Richards also reveals that she has spoken a few times with Kyle since the season ended. According to the Inquisitr, Kyle has started filming the new season with Lisa Vanderpump, so it is possible that Kim will join them at some point.

And Kim appears to be doing well herself. She was recently spotted going out to dinner and only consuming water as her beverage.
