Miesha Tate On Ronda Rousey: ‘I Think The Third Time Will Be The Charm’
Miesha Tate, the former Strikeforce women’s bantamweight world champion, has taken on the UFC’s Ronda Rousey on two separate occasions, losing both bouts by an armbar submission. Although she has yet to take down the current champ, that doesn’t mean she isn’t up for another re-match.
During a recent interview with Fox Sports, Miesha Tate, who is also known by her nickname “Cupcake,” talked about a possible third try at Rousey, admitting that she thinks the “third time will be the charm.”

Tate may just get her wish to get back in the octagon with her nemesis, as she has been on a winning streak, taking down her last three opponents. Miesha is scheduled to fight Jessica Eye this Saturday in Chicago, and if she wins, she will undoubtedly be the number one contender for Rousey once again.
As the Inquisitr previously reported, Miesha recently spoke to MMA Mania about how important the fight against Eye is for her. Winning Saturday’s match could get her one step closer to facing Ronda once again.
“This is definitely an important fight. The next fight is always the most important, but this one is really the final step in the right direction before I get another fight with Ronda. I mean, it’s a girl I’ve never fought before. She’s up and coming, but she’s good. She’s well rounded. She has good striking. Stylistically I like the match up. I feel very confident about it. I feel really good going into the fight. I realize at this point in my career there are no easy fights. You know what I mean? I know it is going to be a tough one, but like you said, it is important and I want to go out there and get a finish.”
Ronda Rousey has been dubbed the “most dangerous woman living in the world” by Rolling Stone, and she generally takes down her opponents within the first round. In fact, she has ended her last three fights with Cat Zingano, Alexis Davis, and Sara McMann in a combined total of 96 seconds. Miesha knows that a fight against Rousey won’t be easy, and if the opportunity presented itself, she wants to use it as a moment to prove herself to the world.

“I could never give up on myself. That would be sad,” she told Fox Sports. “Especially if you’re a role model like I want to be for others. How could I tell others not to give up on themselves if I gave up on myself? You pick yourself up, learn more, get better and try again. As for this fight, I think Ronda brings out the best in me. I feel as though I learn every time we fight. I think the third time will be the charm.”
Miesha Tate will be taking on Jessica Eye during UFC Fight Night: Dillashaw vs. Barao II this coming Saturday on July 25, 2015.
