Gal Gadot Interview Reveals Gadot’s Determination To Stun As Wonder Woman As Movie Makes Superhero History [Photos]

Gal Gadot shared in a new interview just how she feels about taking on the role that Lynda Carter made famous as Wonder Woman. But Gal won’t be in a TV show. Instead, Gadot is excited about playing the role of Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, reported Interview magazine.

In Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Gal will star with Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill. Then, in 2017, look for Gadot to take on the lead in the Wonder Woman movie, which will make history as the first film about a superhero to be directed by a woman, Patty Jenkins.

At 30, Gal has become used to playing the female role in films that predominantly feature men. Gadot told Interview magazine that working on the Fast & Furious films as well as Batman v Superman has made her appreciate the opportunity to interact with women, as is the case in her new movie, Triple Nine, with Kate Winslet.

As the mother of a three-year-old daughter, Gal bonded with Kate instantly.

“Working with Kate was basically the first time I got the opportunity to work with an actress who’s a mother, too. We had so much in common. Once you’re a parent, you already have that in common. Now I have the same thing with Isla. We always talk about the kids and how to manage working with motherhood. A baby comes with such responsibility. Once you become a mother, you always have a guilt trip.”

However, Gadot emphasized, she feels acting is the perfect career choice for a parent. And she tries to choose films that will have meaning for her daughter when she grows up.

“The good thing about being an actress is that it’s very children-friendly. I can work for three months and then I can have six months off. And then I can work for six months and have six months off. It’s up to me. It’s not like being a lawyer, for example, going to work in a law firm every day, nine-to-five for years and years. When I choose a role, I always think about whether my daughter can get something out of it when she watches the movie later after she’s grown up.”

As to why she chose Wonder Woman, Gal revealed that she landed the role after rejecting traditional romance films.

“I told them that I wanted to be able to show the stronger side of women. I didn’t want to do the obvious role that you see in Hollywood most of the time, which is the heartbroken girl who’s waiting to be rescued by the guy, blah, blah, blah. I wanted to do something different. Little did I know that I would land Wonder Woman not long after,” Gadot told Interview.

As for Wonder Woman movie director Patty Jenkins, her opportunity to helm the superhero film comes after she was slated to direct Thor 2, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Michelle MacLaren initially was scheduled to direct, but left. Jenkins is seen as Warners’ response to the charge that female directors are never given the opportunity to direct superhero films. It makes Patty into the first woman director for Warner’s DC world.

And it’s not just the world of directors that is being charged with sexism. As the Inquisitr reported, actress Maggie Gyllenhaal, who is 37-years-old, was recently told that her age made her unsuitable to take on the role of a lover to a 55-year-old star. Maggie has been fighting back by attacking the entertainment industry, in particular Hollywood, as guilty of sexism and ageism.
