Donald Trump Attacked By Rick Perry, Called A ‘Cancer On Conservatism’
Donald Trump has officially angered the Republican party. After announcing his candidacy for President on the Republican ticket, Trump has spiraled into a public relations nightmare.
Not only has he managed to anger the Latin community with his derogatory remarks about illegal Mexicans, but now he’s taken it up a notch by angering Republicans. During an event, Trump said that Senator Republican John McCain was only a war hero because he was captured in his line of duty. Then he went on to say that he likes soldiers that weren’t captured.
“He is a war hero because he was captured. I like people that weren’t captured, OK? I hate to tell you. He is a war hero because he was captured. OK, you can have — I believe perhaps he is a war hero.” These statements caused a complete ruckus.
Many Republicans say he should apologize for his remarks, but Gov. Rick Perry decided to write a whole essay about Trump and the stain he’s creating on the Republican party. In an essay titled, Defending Conservatism Against the Cancer of Trump’ism, Perry goes in on Trump by attacking the type of politician he is.
“In times of trouble, there are two types of leaders: repairers of the breach and sowers of discord. The sower of discord foments agitation, thrives on division, scapegoats certain elements of society, and offers empty platitudes and promises. He is without substance when one scratches below the surface.”
Perry continued to dissect Trump’isms.
“He offers a barking carnival act that can be best described as Trumpism: a toxic mix of demagoguery, mean-spiritedness and nonsense that will lead the Republican Party to perdition if pursued. Let no one be mistaken – Donald Trump’s candidacy is a cancer on conservatism, and it must be clearly diagnosed, excised and discarded.”
Perry isn’t the only prominent Republican to take issue with Trump. Senator Lindsey Graham had a lot to say about Trump,
“What he said about John, I think, was offensive. He’s becoming a jackass at a time when we need to have a serious debate about the future of the party and the country. This is a line he’s crossed, and this is the beginning of the end of Donald Trump… I am really pissed.”
“I’m really frankly tired of this. The world is falling apart..and every time I turn around I’m being asked about Donald Trump saying one dumb thing after another.”
