Cody Simpson Admits Owning Marijuana Pipe In Snapchat Video, Justin Bieber Called Him ‘A F****** Idiot’
Cody Simpson has admitted he owns the yellow glass marijuana pipe that was seen in the Snapchat video he posted over the weekend, when he hung out in Los Angeles with pals Justin Bieber and One Direction’s Niall Horan.
Simpson also revealed Justin Bieber texted him after Cody’s accidental reveal and jokingly told him, “You’re a f****** idiot.”
The video led to clickbait reporting from the UK’s The Sun tabloid, which alleged the stars may have been smoking crystal meth, despite neither Niall, Cody, or Justin having any link to or history with the drug whatsoever.
However, Cody, 18, cleared up the brouhaha during an interview on the Zach Sang & The Gang radio show this week.
The Australian musician copped to owning the marijuana pipe. He stated that it was used to smoke weed and flatly denied crystal meth was present during the jam session that took place on Sunday, July 19.
In Cody’s Snapchat video, he is was seen strumming a guitar while Justin, 21, ad-libbed to their 2014 duet “Home to Mama.” Niall, also 21, perched at one end of a sofa nodding his head to the music, while another pal also played a guitar.
Simpson told the show’s hosts he didn’t realize the glass pipe was in shot when he filmed their music session. Other items seen on the table included a bottle of water, a CD cover, remote controls, and what appeared to be small chunks of weed.

Referring to Justin and Niall getting caught up in the media’s inevitably overwrought take on Cody’s inadvertent pot pipe reveal, the surfer enthusiast said, “If I had known [the pipe was visible] when I put it up [the video] I probably wouldn’t have put it up, just for the sake of not knowing the other people in the Snapchat situation with that stuff.”
Cody explained, “Some people are less, like, you know, open about things… For me, stuff like that, I don’t really mind.”
He went on, “If, like, you know, if I’m 18 and… I want to, like, have a little smoke… do your thing… it’s just part of, like, being young… it’s life,” he finished.
Asked about Bieber and Horan’s reaction to the weed pipe storm, the Down Under singer said, “Bieber texted me, ‘You’re a f***ing idiot.'”
“I was like, ‘Dude, I swear I didn’t know!'” Simpson recalled, before adding that Bieber was “kind of joking” and “doesn’t really care about that stuff really that much either.”
The Free singer’s clarification shuts down the ludicrous crystal meth chatter from The Sun.
“Dude, someone said it was a crystal meth pipe,” Cody exclaimed, when asked about what some reports claimed about the video, before joking that if he was really taking those kind of drugs, “You think I’d be here?”
Even with Cody’s marijuana pipe ownership admission, notably none of the pop stars were seen smoking weed in the Snapchat video.

Our view? Given that a large proportion of the population and celebrities including — Miley Cyrus, Bill Maher, Seth Rogen, Jennifer Aniston, Justin Timberlake, Willie Nelson, Frances McDormand, Cameron Diaz, Sarah Silverman, Susan Sarandon, Charlize Theron, RiRi — and many more, openly admit to using weed, it’s bizarre why anyone cares whether or not three adults may have smoked pot during an evidently relaxed Sunday night jam session.
