Louis Van Gaal has hinted that he is close to signing a new forward in the coming days, and he has stated that it is not the player the media may think it is. It has been reported that Manchester United is close to completing a deal for Barcelona’s want-away forward, Pedro.

“He’s in the process,” Van Gaal said .

“It’s not the striker that the media has written about. You have to wait and see. The transfer period is open until 31 August. You have to wait.”

Rumors suggest that Louis Van Gaal could be plotting a move for German forward Thomas Müller. Manchester United have already signed Bastian Schweinsteger from Bayern Munich, and a move for Müller would be considered an even bigger coup, should the rumor prove correct.

Philip Lahm, Bayern Munich captain, is aware of Manchester United’s interest in Müller and has expressed concerns about the 25-year-old future at the club.

“It’s not my decision. Things can happen very quickly in football. I certainly can’t provide any guarantee for Thomas Müller.”

Manchester United is still searching for a forward to complete the attacking line-up for next season. However, it remains to be seen if that will be Pedro or Thomas Müller. Manchester United fans are already relishing the prospect of having either, or both, in the team.

Louis Van Gaal has already seen an improvement in his squad since his appointment, and believes that it is strong enough to field two players per position. He stated, “Already, we have four new players who are already training on tour. But the biggest difference is the balance in the team.”

“Last year also in the U.S. tour, I had to line up the players in different positions than what they’re used to playing which is not good. Now for every position I have two players. So normally they can play in their own position.”

In addition to being linked to Thomas Müller, Manchester United is in negotiations with Real Madrid for the transfer of Sergio Ramos. It is believed that Manchester United will not sell goalkeeper David De Gea unless Real Madrid is willing to part with Ramos. After allowing club captain Iker Casillas to leave for FC Porto, Real Madrid is not keen on having another senior figure depart the club.
