‘Harry Potter’ Director Wants New ‘Potter’ Sequels Starring The Original Cast
Chris Columbus, director of the first two Harry Potter films and producer for the third Harry Potter film, believes there are more stories to be told, and he thinks he should be the one to tell them. There’s no denying Columbus has a definite love for the subject matter. Chris revealed that he might have directed all of the Harry Potter films, but he was worried a commitment as large as that would force him to sacrifice too much time with his family.
While the former Harry Potter director is excited to see Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, he says that is not where his heart lays. Instead, he would like to spend more time exploring the lives and experiences of Harry, Hermione, and Ron.
“I would love to go back and do another one,” says Columbus. “Not Fantastic Beasts as much, which I think is going to be amazing, but I would love to do another movie with those three characters — Harry, Hermione, and Ron. I’m just fascinated about what happened to them after the end of the last movie, because then they cut to 18 years ahead. There’s 18 years there of great Harry Potter stories.”
It certainly seems like an intriguing project and Chris is sure to have the backing of Potter fans throughout the world, but there’s just one stumbling block. It seems Columbus is concerned about confronting J.K. Rowling with the idea.
“I don’t have the courage to actually mention that to her because I have such respect for her,” said the former Harry Potter director. “She should do what she wants to do, but I really would love to know what’s in her head about those missing years.”
There’s only one way for Chris Columbus to find out how J.K. Rowling feels about new Harry Potter movies: ask her!
In the meantime, Ms. Rowling was busy addressing concerns of those Harry Potter fans scratching their heads and trying to figure out how Galleons convert to US dollars. It seems Rowling’s Harry Potter fans want to know how much tuition costs per student at Hogwarts.
“There’s no tuition fee! The Ministry of Magic covers the cost of all magical education!” tweeted J.K. Rowling.
That’s good news for all of the muggles hoping to attend Harry Potter‘s alma mater, and that may be as close to a new movie as Harry Potter fans are likely to get in the near future.
