Seattle Seahawks rumors have cornerback Brandon Browner wanting to return to Seattle. Browner left the Seahawks for the New England Patriots following the 2013 NFL season, picking up a Super Bowl title this past year. During free agency in this NFL offseason, he then signed a two-year contract with the New Orleans Saints. A report from NFL.com now states that he would like to return to Seattle once the deal with New Orleans comes to an end.
It would certainly be interesting to see Browner on the same field as Richard Sherman, Kam Chancellor, and Earl Thomas again. The foursome was one of the most feared secondaries the NFL has seen in a while, getting the Seahawks all the way to a Super Bowl title in the 2013 NFL season. Despite losing Browner in free agency, the Seahawks made it right back in 2014 but had to play against a Patriots defense of which he was a big part.
As previously reported by the Inquisitr , Browner left the Patriots during the offseason and got a nice contract from the Saints. Again he will be playing for a team that might have to deal with the Seahawks in the postseason if quarterback Drew Brees can find a rhythm again. Past Seattle Seahawks rumors might work against that taking place, though, as the team traded for Saints Pro Bowl tight end Jimmy Graham during the NFL offseason.
While Browner was with the Seahawks, he put together a really impressive 2011 NFL season. Starting all 16 games he played in, Browner notched six interceptions, two of which he returned for touchdowns. He also had 23 pass deflections and 51 tackles that landed him on the NFC Pro Bowl team. It also cemented the secondary in Seattle as one of the most formidable the NFL has seen. He had a troubled final two seasons in Seattle, ending with a suspension that might have cost him a place on the team.
Anything can happen in the NFL, and it could be interesting to see how this situation plays out in two more years. At that point, Brandon Browner will be 33 heading into the 2017 NFL season. While these Seattle Seahawks rumors might set up an intriguing scenario for the former Pro Bowl cornerback, he might be way past his prime at the position. The other question is whether the team would even offer him a contract or look in a different direction.
