‘Madden NFL 16’ Xbox One Bundle Packs In Free Year Of EA Access
Microsoft announced another Xbox One bundle on Monday, and this one features Madden NFL 16. Electronic Arts and Microsoft are going the extra mile by including a free year of the EA Access subscription service.
The Xbox One Madden NFL 16 bundle will be available on August 25 alongside the launch of EA’s latest entry into the long-running football franchise. This is the new 1TB edition of the console and will cost $399.99, meaning the game is included for free.
That’s all pretty standard for the yearly Madden bundle from Microsoft, but the cherry on the top is the free year subscription to EA Access. This is Electronic Arts’ subscription service that gives unlimited access to slightly older titles from the publisher plus gives early access to new releases.

The EA Access vault currently consists of 12 titles that can be downloaded for free to the Xbox One and played. The list of non-sports includes Titanfall, Battlefield 4, Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, Need for Speed: Rivals, and Peggle 2. It was also announced at E3 that Dragon Age: Inquisition would be added in August. Previous entries in the Madden, FIFA, NHL, and NBA Live franchises are also included.
Another nice perk is the opportunity to get started early on upcoming titles like Star Wars: Battlefront and Need for Speed this fall, followed by Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst and Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 next spring.
EA Access normally costs $5 a month or $30 a year. It’s inclusion in the Xbox One Madden NFL 16 bundle makes the bundle a superb value for those just getting started with the console as it essentially starts them off with approximately a dozen playable titles (minus multiple entries in sports franchises).
Interestingly, this now makes the third Xbox One bundle that will be available over the next few months. A Gears of War Ultimate Edition bundle is also coming in August, but is differentiated by using the cheaper 500GB model.
That will be followed by a Forza Motorsport 6 bundle in September that comes with a custom 1TB Xbox One for the same $399.99 price as the Madden NFL 16 bundle. The difference is the blue paint job for the console and controller made to resemble the Ford GT supercar on the game’s cover.
An Xbox One bundle for Halo 5: Guardians is also expected to be announced over the next couple of months. Meanwhile, the current Halo: The Master Chief Collection bundle is slowly being phased out, and you can often find deals for it at around $300.
