WWE News: Legend Returns In Main Event Of ‘Battleground’ And Attacks Brock Lesnar
A huge swerve had been rumored for the main event of Battleground which saw Brock Lesnar take on Seth Rollins for the WWE Title. Well, the rumors were right and WWE delivered on that swerve by having The Undertaker show up and attack Brock Lesnar, which is obviously setting up a match between the two of them at SummerSlam.
During the main event of Battleground, Lesnar had some troubles with the elusive Rollins, but finally got a hold of the champ and had the upper-hand. Lesnar began delivering suplex after suplex to Rollins and virtually having the champ out cold on his feet.
Finally, Lesnar caught Rollins with an F-5 and delivered what seemed like the final blow. Lesnar covered for the pin and the ref counted one and two, but then the arena went dark. The gong of The Undertaker sounded and the crowd began to cheer.
As the lights came back up, both the referee and Seth Rollins were no longer in the ring. Brock Lesnar was on his feet and he was standing face-to-face with The Undertaker.
Lesnar actually had a look of fear on his face as he stared at the “Dead Man.” It was the first time the two had been in a ring together or even this close since Lesnar ended Undertaker’s perfect streak back at WrestleMania XXX in New Orleans.
Undertaker grabbed Lesnar around the neck to deliver a chokeslam, but the Beast Incarnate got out of it and lifted him for an F-5. Undertaker reversed the move and then kicked Lesnar square and hard in the groin.
Brock Lesnar went down in a heap to the mat, and Undertaker simply stalked and waited for him to stand up. Once he did, Taker grabbed him around the throat and delivered a huge chokeslam.
Undertaker wasn’t done though as he lifted Lesnar up and delivered a Tombstone piledriver in the center of the ring. Lesnar was still stirring around as Taker went to leave so the “Dead Man” picked him up and gave him another Tombstone.
Undertaker knelt down, raised his hand to the sky, stuck out his tongue, and delivered his signature pose as the house lights turned purple and the crowd popped huge.
This will inevitably set up a match between the two at SummerSlam which WWE is selling big-time and want it to be huge, per CBS Sports. The rematch between Brock Lesnar and Undertaker already adds gigantic credibility to the event and makes it a must-watch.
The Undertaker has officially returned to WWE and the rumors were true. He looks to be in the best shape he’s been in for a very long time and he did well in destroying Brock Lesnar to end an eventful Battleground.
