Olivia Munn Discusses ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Wardrobe Malfunction

Actress Olivia Munn experienced a wardrobe malfunction on the set of the new X-Men film.

The 35-year-old actress opened up about the flaws of her skin-tight latex costume in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly— including the “malfunction” that occurred on the first day of shooting the film.

“Now it fits like a glove, but it’s kind of hard because there’s been times where I’m pulling and it pops like a balloon, which did happen day one. Day one, I was like, ‘Uh, guys, uh, do we have a backup? Sorry I popped my crotch.”

Olivia Munn will make her debut in the blockbuster movie franchise as Psylocke — one of the “four horsemen” working for the film’s titular villain Apocalypse.

Since Apocalypse was known for exerting his control by choosing the wardrobe for all of his “employees,” Olivia Munn’s character has always been seen in risqué outfits.

Apparently, director Bryan Singer did not want to rob longtime X-Men fans and critics of Psylocke’s authentic look so Olivia Munn was forced to slide and slither her way into the costumes prepared for her.

During the interview, Olivia expressed her feelings about Psylocke’s overall outfit and its sexual nature.

“Psylocke’s outfit or uniform or suit or whatever you want to call it is very sexual. I’ve got like my thigh-highs and a halter, but the thing about that, and that was important, is that it doesn’t matter what I’m wearing as long as we’re all aware of who she is. She’s very strong and she’s very lethal and she’s very powerful, and it doesn’t really matter what she’s wearing as long as you have that strength and that presence.”

Sliding into her “sexual” wardrobe is not the only behind-the-scenes preparation that Olivia Munn experienced to bring Psylocke to the big-screen. She also became very skilled at using a sword — the iconic weapon of choice used frequently by Psylocke. The actress released footage of a brief glimpse at her sword handling skills through her Instagram page last month.

Quite a few people on Twitter are excited about seeing the Magic Mike actress in action on the big-screen — especially since she seems to be the perfect person to portray Psylocke.

Excited fans and skeptical critics alike will get to see Olivia Munn in action right along with the rest of the impressive ensemble cast when X-Men: Apocalypse is released in theaters in May of 2016.
