WWE Rumors: Last Minute Updates For ‘Battleground’ Tonight — A Wyatt Family Reunion? Is Either Legend Returning? IC Title Match?
As unexpected as it may seem, WWE Battleground has now turned into one of the most anticipated events of the year. Tons of rumors are flying around as to what could happen in the main event, including which legends are returning and what Dean Ambrose’s role may be. Now, the morning of the event has brought even more backstage updates and rumors, and it could lead to a Wyatt Family reunion.
Oddly enough, the focus has now shifted off of what the outcomes of the matches will be and more to what extracurricular things will happen.
As of Saturday night, there were already huge rumors going around. Sunday morning has brought a whole new host of them, and some of them are even more interesting to what’s been said lately.
Bray Wyatt vs. Roman Reigns
According to the Wrestling Observer, a lot of focus is now being given to this match, and it could be because there are seemingly three options right now. While the match itself should be good, it’s who would get involved that could be most interesting.
First off, there were rumors that Dean Ambrose could get involved on the side of Roman Reigns. Another possibility is Luke Harper getting back into the spotlight and interfering on behalf of Bray Wyatt and leading to a little Wyatt Family reunion. With Erick Rowan out four to six months due to injury, Harper has been kind of lost.
Now, one other possibility is Sting showing back up in WWE and starting a program with Bray Wyatt. With Sting coming back for a match at SummerSlam, Dave Meltzer states the Wyatt/Reigns match is “where Sting fits in too.”
Intercontinental Championship?
With the injury to Ryback, WWE officially called off the Intercontinental Title match scheduled for Battleground. Talk has been that The Miz would take on Big Show — and possibly a third opponent — in a match to determine the number one contender, but nothing has been confirmed.
On Saturday night, WWE tweeted from a live event that states Miz is still going to be at Battleground.

The NXT Divas Revolution
At Monday Night Raw, the NXT Divas took over with the debuts of Charlotte, Sasha Banks, and Becky Lynch. WrestleZone is reporting that all three of them have been flown into St. Louis, the sight of Battleground.
There isn’t a Divas match on the card as of now, but some open time may allow for them to either have a match or a segment of some kind to further the NXT invasion angle.
WWE Battleground is really shaping up to be a huge event with the card and the rumors thrown on top. None of these newest ones even mention the “huge swerve” for the main event or the possibility of The Undertaker showing up. Only time will tell if Dean Ambrose, Sting, the NXT Divas Revolution, a Wyatt Family reunion, or any of the other rumors will come true.
