‘Batman: Arkham Knight’ Receiving A Patch After All, PC Patch Coming In August
It seems as though Batman: Arkham Knight PC users won’t have to wait too long for an upcoming patch to the game, but it’s still a far cry from being fixed. Revealed via Steam, Warner Bros (WB) stated that a patch will be incoming to PC users sometime in August, hopefully providing some relief to those players who have trudged on in hopes of an Arkham Knight cure.
While earlier reports have stated that a PC fix for Batman: Arkham Knight wouldn’t come until the fall — and that may still hold true as this patch may not “fix” the game — WB is looking to act upon some issues they detailed back in June with this upcoming patch.
“As an update, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Rocksteady and our partners are targeting an interim patch update for existing players to be released in August. This update will address many of the issues we listed in our June 27 update. We will provide additional details as we finalize that interim patch over the coming weeks.”
As stated before, this “interim” patch seems to be Warner Bros’ way of making sure gamers aren’t waiting too long for a patch to alleviate some of the issues with Arkham Knight, but this is a far cry from actually making the game work in a state that the company should feel comfortable selling again. Since being pulled off shelves just weeks after it was launched in June, PC users who didn’t choose to get their money back have dealt with missing graphical features, framerate issues (especially when them locking the framerate at 30, and then it not even being a stable 30), and so on.
“We would like to thank you for your continued patience and invaluable feedback. We are continuing to monitor and listen for any additional issues and are driving towards a full update for everyone as quickly as we possibly can.”
WB’s decision to pull the game was praised by many, but the question remained: If WB knew the game was in such poor shape, why even release it? They have stated that the game won’t go back on sale until it is fixed, but until they give Batman: Arkham Knight consumers a timetable of when that might happen, nothing is certain.
It remains to be seen what will become of Batman on PC. However, one thing is certain: WB has a long way to go to restore faith in their PC consumer base.
