Jill Duggar And Derick Dillard Share Mission Trip Update After ’19 Kids And Counting’ Cancellation

Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard finally shared an update on their mysterious mission trip.

The 19 Kids and Counting stars previously claimed that they didn’t want to reveal the location of their mission trip because they were concerned about their safety. It’s been almost two weeks since Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard embarked on their long-term mission trip, and they’re just now providing their generous donors with an update on what their financial contributions are being spent on and where they’re being spent.

“We are so excited to announce that we have safely arrived on the mission field and we can now tell you that we are in Central America!” Jill and Derick wrote on the Dillard Family blog. They didn’t say exactly where they are at in Central America, but one of the couple’s friends previously revealed that the pair settled somewhere in El Salvador, a country that the Duggars visit every year.

Jill and Derick also gave their fans an update on how their 3-month-old baby boy, Israel David Dillard, is handling his huge move to a different country. According the proud parents, he’s become an even bigger celebrity than Jill Duggar.

“Israel seems to be adjusting to the new climate, culture, food (via mom’s milk), and language faster than Jill and I are. In fact, he has been the talk of the town. Everywhere we go, people here about and want to see and hold the, ‘big blue-eyed, white baby’ LOL.”

Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard went on to share a story about what kind of work they’re doing in Central America. The couple’s main focus seems to be converting people to their brand of Christianity, not doing need-based mission work like feeding the hungry and building houses.

“It is encouraging to already see some of the ways God is changing the hearts of the people here. Just 7 days ago, I had the joy of witnessing one elderly woman give lordship of her life to Christ. This transpired just one day after her Christian son was restored to fellowship in his local church. We were at the man’s house ministering to him with encouragement from God’s Word when the opportunity was presented to share the hope of the Gospel with his mother. It’s our prayer, and we ask you to please pray with us, that many more would repent of their ways and turn to God’s way for their life.”

Jill Duggar and her husband didn’t share any thoughts about the recent cancellation of 19 Kids and Counting. TLC decided to ditch its popular reality series after it was revealed that Josh Duggar sexually molested Jill, Jessa, and two other sisters. According to CNN Money, Jessa Duggar and Jill Duggar will appear in a commercial-free documentary about child molestation that’s set to air later this summer. Because Jill currently isn’t in the country, it’s possible that her contribution to the TV special was filmed before TLC made its decision to give 19 Kids and Counting the ax.

A spokesman for TLC’s parent company, Discovery Communications, stated that the network is still open to filming a spin-off show that focuses on “some of the Duggar children.” This seems to suggest that Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar will not be featured on the series. Jim Bob and Michelle failed to properly respond to what Josh did to his sisters, and their lack of action allowed the predator to have continued access to his victims. The parents have been criticized for their cover-up almost as much as Josh has for molesting his siblings, so network execs might view them as being too toxic for TLC.

Do you think Jill Duggar and her siblings will score a spin-off show after she returns from Central America?
