Is ‘Outlander’ Star Sam Heughan Single? Plus He Talks Love And His Loyal Fans, The Heughligans
Following his breakout first season as Jamie Fraser on Outlander, Sam Heughan has managed to build an almost cult-like following among avid fans of the show. Speaking of those passionate fans, many of which were present at Comic-Con this year, Heughan recently answered one of the most burning questions that most fans seem to have about the Outlander actor.
When asked if he was single, Heughan told E! Online’s Kristin Santos “Who’s asking? Are you asking?” he asked. “Well I might tell you someday,” he added, saying he would reveal whether or not he was single when the cameras stopped rolling.
Meanwhile, as the hit series gets ready to start its second season, Heughan sat down with the Herald Scotland and talked about how his status as a celebrity is different back home in Scotland.
“You are very removed from it in Scotland. The show has been well received, but it is always odd when people recognize you in America or at airports and come up to you. It is very nice but quite strange.”
Sam Heughan went on to state that people are generally kind when they recognize him on the street. “In Scotland we are very different, aren’t we?” he stated. “We do take it with a pinch of salt. Glasgow is certainly a place where they will tell you if they don’t think you are anything special.” Heughan laughed. “So far people have been really delightful when they do recognize me.”
In regards to the several different fan groups that have taken a liking to Heughan, including some that call themselves the Heughligans, Heughan stated that he isn’t the only one on the show with a fan following.
“The Heughligans are just one part of it. There are so many fan groups and sub groups. There is the Caitriots and the Menziatics… Somehow they manage to find us on set no matter where we are shooting, even if it is in the middle of nowhere, and bring lots of sugary goods which always goes down a treat.”
Although Heughan and Caitriona Balfe have great chemistry in their love story on screen, Heughan remained elusive about his personal love life. When asked if he was in a relationship, the actor stated “I might be,” before adding that he is actually a fairly normal person.
“I’m a very boring person… I love hillwalking and have been doing a lot of climbing. I have a couple of challenges coming up this year. Hopefully, if the filming schedule allows, I’ll be on some snowy peaks somewhere in the world.”
Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe return as Jamie and Claire in Season 2 of Outlander in 2016.
