Ant-Man Now Playable In ‘Marvel Heroes’ With Latest Patch, Story Mode Also Consolidated

With a huge $25,000 giveaway just for playing currently active, Marvel Heroes players are logging some serious time in hopes of grabbing one of five Vibranium Tickets each worth $5,000. Luckily, they have a new hero to level, experiment with, and master, considering Ant-Man was just added to the roster.

Whether you want to be Scott Lang or Hank Pym, Marvel Heroes has it covered. By default, players that purchase Ant-Man with real money, or in-game with eternity splinters, will be using Scott Lang in his Avengers Now costume. A movie version of Lang’s costume is also available in the store in addition to a Hank Pym variant. No matter which costume is active, players will have access to three power trees; Particle Brawling, Equipment, and Insect Constructs. The character focuses on melee fighting with shrinking and calling in ants a definite possibility.

Marvel Heroes players looking to use Ant-Man for his synergy should know that the character provides a plus five stat to credit find and a plus one stat to strength. Ant-Man is the first character in Marvel Heroes to provide an attribute like strength in his synergy. Ant-Man, though, was not all the patch had to offer. Difficulty modes that dictated which version of the story players could play in has been removed. Normal, Heroic, and Superheroic modes are now gone and consolidated into one mode. This change makes it possible for a hero to level from one to 60 in one completion of the story mode versus the three run-throughs previously required.

The patch for Marvel Heroes also fixed a number of bugs and issues while tuning a few hero unique items. Not to mention, a few achievement hints have been included in the patch notes to get players started on a handful of secret achievements in the game. For a full list of changes and fixes check out the official patch notes.

However, the patch to add Ant-Man also caused a few issues for many players. Many 32 bit client users cannot log in to the game at all without being crashed due to a memory error while several 64 bit users have reported high memory usage which may lead to client shutdown. Although there was an emergency maintenance late last night, the issue persists. In fact, the creative designer for Marvel Heroes addressed the issue on the official forum saying, “The memory issue was discovered and fixed today, but won’t be live until next week unfortunately.” Sadly, players that cannot log in, of course, cannot play for a chance at the latest giveaway.

After reaching out to Gazillion, a representative has confirmed that they are aware of the issues and are currently working to resolve the issues.

Update: Gazillion worked into the weekend in order to deploy a new update on Saturday that seems to have fixed the issues with 32 bit systems.

Have you gotten a chance to try Ant-Man yet?
