The Dub’s downed LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in six games, as Head Coach Steve Kerr became the seventh first-time coach to win a title in his rookie season.
Forward Draymond Green stepped up big time for the Warriors throughout the entire course of the season and was rewarded with a five-year, $85 million extension.
Now, Finals MVP Andre Iguodala (who became the first player to win the award after not having started a single game during the regular season) says he wants to be traded from the team in light of Kerr’s remarks regarding Andre’s future role, per ESPN.
Then trade me… https://t.co/eahYRKAKYf — Andre Iguodala (@andre) July 16, 2015
Here’s what Kerr had to say, according to ESPN.
“I saw him at the postgame party in Cleveland, went up and said, ‘Congrats, MVP, you were incredible, what a job. And you’re going back to the bench next year.’ And he laughed. And I laughed. Obviously kind of a joke.
“We won 67 games with the group that we had. And we’ve got our core back, just about everybody’s back. And more than likely we’ll play it the same way. But you never know how things go. We’ll see. But the good thing is we’re capable of playing a lot of different ways with a lot of different combinations, as we showed throughout the season.”
Then, Iguodala admitted that wanting to be traded was all just a big joke, to the delight of Warriors fans.

During the 2014-15 NBA regular season, Iggy averaged 7.8 points, 3.0 assists, and 3.3 rebounds per game, according to Basketball Reference.
During this year’s playoffs run, however, Andre upped his totals to 10.4 points per game, to go along with 3.6 assists and 4.5 rebounds.
In six games against the Cavs in the Finals, Iguodala posted 16.3 points per game, while adding 4.0 assists and 5.8 rebounds.
Through 11 full seasons in the Association, Andre has career marks of 14.0 points per game, 4.7 assists, and 5.5 rebounds, while playing for the Philadelphia 76ers, Denver Nuggets, and Golden State Warriors.
Ultimately, the former Arizona Wildcat and 2012 Olympic gold medalist does not want to leave Oakland and was merely pranking the Warriors faithful.
